Sure, they're not particularly "sad" lyrics and they're not depressing, but to be honest, there's no real depth either and that's what I like most in song lyrics - a certain poetic quality that rap and hip-hop generally doesn't seem to grasp (either that or I haven't heard it before). To me it can be very blunt and not really saying anything throughout the entire song beyond the first few lines. But then, that's just my opinion I suppose and I don't have much experience in that field of music...

I'm a Hip-Hop guy myself being as that was the music I've grown up with. But I also love old soul music (Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, etc.) and more singer and standards type (Sinatra whom I LOVE).
