How would we have survived the 60's without Martha Reeves and the Vandellas?

Great thread! I loved seeing everyone's choices, especially Donna Summer and Deep Purple.
I was born in 70, so I heard everything from Glenn Miller to Neil Diamond to Gordon Lightfoot from my parents and older siblings. Having been a teen in the mid to late 80s, the music of that decade has special meaning for me. Looking back, I seemed to gravitate towards very strong singers: Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden Steve Perry of Journey Ann Wilson of Heart Lou Graham of Foreigner Geoff Tate of Queensr˙che YouTube - Bruce Dickinson - Tears of the Dragon |

And then there's "Long Train Runnin", like Sweet Home Alabama, whenever I hear it, I go straight back - back into the murky mists of seventeen or so....
