The nature of Hamas (America, mission, suicide, Israel, Jewish)

I heard yesterday on NPR an American scholar say that the Bush Administration incorrectly label two legitimate resistance groups "terrorist organizations." I knew before he said it that he was specifically referring to Hamas and Hizbullah.

I think to myself, "how can two groups who fund and support terrorist activities be labeled a legitimate resistance group." Groups that exist to utterly destroy Israel and not to work towards peace.

So how can we argue that Hamas is a legitimate resistance group? Even using "resistance" to an illegal "occupation" by Israel clearly reveals an anti-semetic (by that I mean anti-Jewish) and anti-Israel perspective, legitimizing the existance of a group that indiscrimately kills Israelis and exists only for the destruction of Israel.

"Hamas is known chiefly for its suicide bombings [2] and other attacks directed against Israeli civilians, as well as military and security forces targets. Hamas' charter (written in 1988 and still in force) calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian Islamic state in the area that is now Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.[3]"

let us not forget that the Charter of Hamas and the speaches of Nasrallah, the head of Hizbullah, contain blatently anti-jewish rhetoric

You can't. In my opinion, it would be an insult to the victims of attacks perpetrated by Hamas to suggest that they are a legitimate resistance group.

Hamas is an organization resisting invaders
and defending their own land
so what is illegtimate in that

if some one came to steal ur land , and kick u out
wouldn't u resist
or u will give him ur land as a gift, so as not to be a terrorist

and as u seem to care for victims so much

it's anti-jewish rhetoric and insistance that the only way for there to be peaceful jewish-muslim relations is in a situation of jewish subserviance to muslims (Article 31)

the charter also reinforces anti-jewish teachings such as jewish world domination and "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion".

I would certainly resist but I would not do so by organising suicide bombings against innocent civilians. Engaging in such tactics makes one a terrorist in my book. If Hamas only ever deliberately attacked military targets then they might have a claim to being a legitimate resistance movement but as it is I see no validity to such a claim.
