Yeah, so it was a busy weekend here at our house, and yesterday I was able to go to the Mid-America Buddhist Association (MABA) to celebrate Vesak with some of my family. My daughter participated in the Bathing the Buddha rite and immediate spent practically the rest of the time making a plethora of origami figures in the children's pavilion.
![]() Vesak is the Buddhist observation on the first full moon day in May where we celebrate Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death. MABA, located waaaaaaayyyyy out in the country amongst the rolling hills of Missouri, sponsored this event where the local sang'has could meet and enjoy the day together. My husband's aunt, a devoted Christian, agreed to come along, too, to partake in the festivities. And I was so happy that she came along. She even tried to follow along while we sang the Heart Sutra. ![]() MABA is located in such a beautiful area........there are gardens everywhere, and the way it is landscaped with the main hall situated atop one of the higher hills - the view is simply lovely. I wish I could share with everyone how beautiful the day was yesterday with sunny skies and 72 degree weather (Fahrenheit). We had to leave the festivities early so that Dana could go to her neighbor's birthday party. But not before we enjoyed celebrating Vesak. *imagine Mystic singing* Namo tassa Bhagavato arahato samma sambudhassa (Homage to the Blessed One, The Holy One, The Fully Enlightened One) So I offer this feeling of tranquility, happiness, and brotherhood and sisterhood to all here at RF. ![]() Peace, Mystic |

Aw, how sweet. Peace, love, light and blessings being sent your way too!
It sounds like fun! Especially the part about the pretty gardens. ![]()
