Hi my dear, sweet RF family.
This is just to let you know that I will not be on RF for a few weeks. I won’t be on RF for most of this week…probably until tomorrow or Wednesday. Why you may ask? Well, it’s mainly because I’m getting married to my dear, sweet, precious fiancé on Sunday 29th April. We leave for our honeymoon the day after our wedding. Preparations are coming along nicely by the grace of God. Everything is falling into place. However this week I’ll be busy like crazy. Oh yeah, I don’t mention my sweetheart’s name too much around here. His name is Sastri…pronounced: Sass-Tree. So from now on when I mention “Sastri” you’ll know who I’m talking about. Our wedding will be a Vedic Hindu wedding. A similar format for this type of wedding can be read at: http://www.aryasamaj.org/eng_art/vedic_vaivah_sanskar.htm I’m terribly sorry but I can’t post any pictures. For personal/security reasons neither of us post any of our pictures on the internet. Don’t worry, we are not refugees nor are we involved in anything illegal. It’s just that we know of someone who had her pictures taken from the net and used in a false and negative way against her. I know that you guys are trustworthy people but the internet is a very vast area. I really hope that you guys understand.I would also like to apologize for something else. Since I’ll be incredibly busy, I know that I won’t be able to reply individually to each one of your comments. I will definitely read all of them and I sincerely wish all the happiness in the world for those of you who will be sending me your best wishes. Please pray that I do not trip or do something goofy on my wedding day. Many eyes will be on me. Yikes! I hate to be the centre of attention. Ah well, it’s all for a good reason.

Good luck for your big day (or days, don't know how long your weddings take). I'm slightly envious as my wedding was probably the best day of my life (well, actually equal with each of the births of my children) and I sort of wish i could repeat it, but it really is a once only thing. I hope everything goes well and that you tell us all about it when you get back. We could swap anecdotes about our strange traditions (sure you must have some and Romanians certainly do). I certainly hope that you have more of an idea of what is going on than I did at mine, too (there's no such thing as an Orthodox wedding rehearsal and even if their had been it wouldn't have helped with the reception).
My thoughts and prayers go with you. James

Ah, congratulations! I hope the wedding is wonderful.
![]() I'm sad we won't get to be seeing pictures of the happy couple, but I totally understand why you wouldn't want to post pictures of yourself on the internet. |

Thanks alot everyone. The ceremony last three days...from Friday to Sunday. However, we won't be having anything official on the Saturday. Satuday nights are what is called the "Cooking Night" by Hindus in Trinidad. All the vegetables are peeled and prepared for cooking the next morning. We are having the food catered so we are not really having a "Cooking Night". On the Friday night, I will be rubbed down with saffron paste by five little girls and I will be officially made into a bride. I will also have to sit for a prayer session or pooja on the Friday night. All these activities including the wedding will be taking place at the Temple I attend. The saffron helps one's complexion and has medicinal properties for one's skin. The Friday night is called the Maticoor night. Pronounced Matty-Koor.
Blessings to all of you. Keep well. ![]()
