Do you remember when the first time you cast a spell?
Or the first time you read someone's palm? Or read the cards? Do you remember the first charm you ever bought? Or ever made? Do you remember your first ritual tool? Or first occult book? Do you remember your first steps in magic?

Do you remember when the first time you cast a spell?
Too personal for a public forum. ![]() Or the first time you read someone's palm? Or read the cards? When I became interested in Magick I was given a deck of tarot cards by some occultists I'd been introduced to and began reading then. I was sixteen at the time. Do you remember the first charm you ever bought? Or ever made? I made an solar talisman using all sorts of intricate corresponding symbolism for a friend who had very low self-esteem and was always being treated like dirt by others. I thought it might help but she gave it back two days later saying that she'd annoyed everyone by being too full of herself and wouldn't have any friends left if she continued and could I make one to get her a boyfriend instead. I did so but tried to make it so she'd get a guy who treated her well. She did meet someone who I thought was kind to her but she seemed to have eyes only for bad boys. Heheh. Do you remember your first ritual tool? My father gave me a dagger that his father had given to him. It was blunt and very old but seemed perfect as an Athame. Although my father was a skeptical atheist he was sympathetic to my interests so said it was ok for me to use it as a ritual tool. Or first occult book? Foundations of Practical Magic by Israel Regardie Do you remember your first steps in magic? Yeh. Making contact with those occultists I mentioned. They kept trying to tell me that I was too young but I kept asking so they gave in on condition that I took it slow. First off I learnt the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram from them. I practised it twice every day, read as much as I could and did a lot of visualised inner-journeys using symbolism from the tarot and the qabalah. What about you Isabella?

Do you remember when the first time you cast a spell?
Yes. Every last detail of it. Or the first time you read someone's palm? Or read the cards? While I do have yet to read a palm, I do remember the first time I read cards, and the first time I read runes. The Tarot cards were the Celtic Dragon deck, which I had to make references to it's book for a clear idea of it. The runes was a set made out of clay. Do you remember the first charm you ever bought? Or ever made? I have never purchased a charm, unless you would consider an amulet to be a form of charm. But I do remember making the first one. Do you remember your first ritual tool? Or first occult book? The first ritual tool was a dagger with with wolves on the hilt, and along the blade, and wolves were painted onto the sheeth. The first Occult book I purchased was Wiccan Magick, by Grimassi. I no longer own this book. Do you remember your first steps in magic? Yes. I often reflect on those days, to remember what it's like to start a new path in life, and to remember what it's like to know absolutly nothing about something. I find it humbling to reflect upon those early days, from working the courage to go inside a metaphysical store (I was raised a strict Baptist, so I had no idea what to expect, and was worried about someone seeing me go into the store.), being fascinated by what I saw, buying books and materials, reading and studying, and learning as much as I could. I even remember going against people who warned me about following a dark path. Yes, thier is sadly intolerance in the so called "open minded" Pagan world towards other Pagans.

Do you remember when the first time you cast a spell?
Yes I do. It was a simple thing, of healing after the desecration of a personal talisman. I remember learning a lot more than magic that day. I learned words can inflict as much harm as actions; and it is not easy to heal those wounds. I was seventeen. Or the first time you read someone's palm? Or read the cards? I was reading palms when I was eight. Call it play acting if you'd like but I was the only one I knew who read them. The very first time I faced a dilemma, to speak what I saw or to just speak happy news. It did scare me, to see, to feel something. With the cards, it was a bit different. I didn't get interested in them until I was 14. I was only able to get a hold of playing cards and well I thought I could do just about the same thing with them. It is possible to read them. Nobody took the readings seriously at first. But one girl did, she wanted a past life reading and I gave it to her. It still bothers me, that what I told. I still see those images a clear now as then. Do you remember the first charm you ever bought? Or ever made? Many of my charms were given to me and as such were later lost. I do regret the lost of one particular charm, which went missing when the friendship was over, I miss that friend. I don't recall buying a charm but I've made a few. There is something special in making one and giving it away. Do you remember your first ritual tool? My first tool was a homemade athame of Mimosa wood. It always struck me as a confused tool. Was it a wand or was it an athame? lol It's done alright by me. Or first occult book? "A Witch Alone" by Maron Green. Do you remember your first steps in magic? Thinking "now how do I do that." I do remember the confusion, paranoia and anguish that came with it. Of being a fence sitter and not being sure of myself, of my faith, of my actions and my mental status. And in the midst of spiritual crises trying to do magic. I don't know what I was thinking then. There was so much going on then that magic was just a blip on the radar of life.
