Yeah, we're understanding each other! It's the inflection of President Monson's talks that really get me. The content is great, so it's usually worth wading through the singsong, but it gets tiring.

LOL! Well, I guess if you can be totally honest, I can be, too. I'm just not in the mood to have two particular RFers tell me I'm an apostate because I don't share their taste in speakers. Yes, it's Elder Packer.
A lot of people have a tough time with him. As I recall, Time magazine even had a tough time with him in their article on us back in the late '90s. If anyone calls you apostate here for it, I'll make sure they call me apostate too for not liking Elder Maxwell! We'll diffuse the heat of the burning stakes!

I have to admit, it helps me like him that he looks like my grandpa did. Elder Hales looks like my other grandpa, so Conference is often like seeing my grandfathers again.

I absolutely love Elder Ballard, though. I love how he is able to build bridges between people of various religions. It seems like the Church uses him in that capacity quite a bit.
Yeah, that is cool about Elder Ballard. And not surprising that RFers would feel that way!

LOL. Okay, I see what you mean. As long as he makes a point of mentioning his source, I kind of enjoy that kind of thing.
Oh, I love that kind of thing. I wish it would happen a lot more. I mean, I love C.S. Lewis and all, but there are plenty of other Christian writings out there.

You really think so? I remember the first time I heard her speak in General Conference, I thought she came across as anything but sounding like she was talking to children.

Whatever your reasons, I've created this place for us to talk about what we're anticipating. What do you look forward to? Is there anything you aren't looking forward to?

I have a buddy whose family tradition is to make scones during GC while watching at home. My family is likely going to adjust his tradition and make crepes!
We lived in the midwest in the 90's. Conference was not usually on TV, so we went to the church to watch it. The drive was far enough that we didn't want to come home between sessions.

The tradition was for several families to go on Saturday and stay for about 6 hours, through both sessions. We would bring pot luck and then we'd play some sports in the cultural hall, between sessions on Saturday. We did the same thing on Sunday, except a toned down version between sessions.

Now, I watch it on TV and try to see all sessions, but I'll admit that I sleep through a few talks and catch them later on DVR.

I kind of miss the old days, when we went out of our way to watch conference and made it an all day affair. I think it helped us appreciate what we have in being able to listen to our leaders.

I got my wish here! Elder Scott's talk was great!

Like moving back to Jackson County or something or a new temple being built in my backyard.
Did anyone catch the announcement of the new temple in the greater Kansas City area? Did anyone make the connection there to Jackson County, the county that Kansas City is found in? Hmm. . . .

I hope they do a Primary choir again. I think those are the best!
Another wish granted!

It's official. President Monson is the Mormon's William Shatner.

As for women, I only heard Sister Dalton. More on her later.
