My Baptism!
Woot! Im baptized! yay!!!!
 Oh, I was so nervous this morning and just before, I was shaking, my face went bright red!!! I was terrified. As we stepped into the font, the water was really hot! very nice!!! Elder buzbee asked if I was ok, I said "dont you dare drop me?"  It all went fine and I only had to go under once!!!! hurrah!!! It was really good, I felt really relieved and happy when I came up, I couldnt stop smiling!!! Everyone congratulated me and some even gave me prezzies which I was not expecting! ALL my family came, mum, dad, brother!, great aunt and Nan...Im soo happy.... I get confirmed tomorrow!

The baptism was supposed to be held at 4pm, but the ward council said that I could delay it til 4:30pm to give my parents time to arrive. I was only expecting my Nan, Mum, Dad and Brother. I arrived about 3:45pm - I was unbelievably nervous. I waited in the car to give myself a couple of minutes to relax and breath and also because I wasnt sure if Elder Buzbee and Elder Daniels were in the church on their own as they were filling the font. I waited til someone else also arrived. The first were sue - the YSA teacher and her daughter Lauri, we walked in together and had a chat - they tried to calm my nerves and gave me some support and were all smiles! Elder Buzbee and Elder Daniels were eating skittles!!!!!! they offered me some - it calmed my nerves for oh 3 secs!!!! I had to have a look at the font filling up - prob a bad idea as it seems quite small which made me even more scared! I could feel my face getting hotter and hotter and I could stand still, my breating was really quick! Everybody started to arrive - I was amazed at how many turned up, they all came over and wished me goodluck! and to remember that the heavenly father loves us all and he wont let anything happen on this lovely day - it was also really sunny and warm!!!! It still is!!!! My fav point was from Shane - he is a lovely guy who said "Dont worry about the other people in the room, it is just you, Elder Buzbee and your loving heavenly father!" - that calmed me slightly and I tried to remember that throughout the service. My nan turned up really early and was busy chatting to everyone - shes great, loves to talk!!! She came into the toilets when i was trying on my robes and under slip! She said how wonderful it was and that she was pleased that she could come and that it was a lovely church! She loved the robes! (although they did make me look like a ghost!!!!! hehe...) I got changed back into my normal clothes for a while to greet people. My mum, dad and bro were the next to turn up - they are accepting my decision but are still a bit dubious! Everyone couldnt believe how tall my brother was - he is 5"3 and 10yrs old! He looked really smart as he was still in his school uniform from his commem (prize giving) and simming gala - last day of school for him. I introduced them to the bishop and he thanked them for being so supportive of me. I was still pacing up and down getting more and more nervous. Not helped by the fact one of my speakers hadnt turned up! Elder Daniels kept nudging me to go and get my robe on. Elder Buzbee was already in his whites. I went and got changed and mum came and helped! Asking "I you sure this is what you want" I said "I know its what I want I am just nervous of going backwards" Getting more and more red in the face and nervous as time goes on and then they all wanted pictures!!!!!! Bishop, Elders and my Mum so we talk several pictures with the family and me in the robes and the elders for a memo! At 4:30pm I went into the service and was sat at the front with elder buzbee! My speaker still hadnt turned up! We had an opening hymn and prayer. Alex walked in litrerally two seconds before his time to talk as he was the first speaker. It was a lovely talk on the fourth article of faith. Focusing on faith and repentance! We kept smiling and almost laughing at each other - it was really nice! The service managed to calm my nerves slightly, I seemed more relaxed and at ease! The second speaker who has CP but is lovely, did really well and spoke about baptism and the gift of the holy spirit - I get confirmed tomorrow. I have decided that the Bishop should be the one to speak. They both spoke about personal experiences and said they look forward to getting to know me! They are all really friendly! Now it was time to go into the font and be baptised! Oh my heart did start to pound, everyone waited for me to go out first! as I left, I looked and saw my great aunt standing there, so she managed to turn up as well!!! I walked into the toilets (where the door is to the font) with another sister form the ward who was letting me know when to go in - I was getting more and more nervous!!! my heart was pounding, i was sweating!!! I was terrified! I had my face in my hands - I knew it was the right thing to do I am just terrified of going backwards!!! I stepped into the font - it was so hot - it was lovely, I started to calm down slightly. I stood next to elder buzbee who asked if I was ok - to which I replied "Dont you dare drop me" he smiled. he said the prayer and thankfully asked if I was ready before dunking me! I went back a lot easier than expected (because I am 5"11 the water came up just below my waist - they had filled it slightly higher than normal for me!) I felt relieved as soon as I went under, my fears went away and I really enjoyed it! I came up, and elder buzbee congratulated me - the feeling was amazing! I was so happy!!!!! I felt a little silly for being so scared and wanted to do it again! I even said "Can I stay in here!" I slowly came out the font after pulling the plug on the bishops request and one of the sisters had my towel (the lion king which I borrowed from my brother!) waiting for me to wrap round me! The feeling was just amazing I was so happy and was bouncing around the toilets! with a huge smile on my face!!!!! I quickly got changed and my mum came and gave me a hug and helped me. Then to the service for the closing hymn and prayer. The Bishop also said a few welcoming words to me - Thanked my family for coming and supporting me and said that they would be there as my brothers and sisters to help me as I would be them - i still had a massive smile of my face!!!!!!After the service everyone came up and gave me a hug and shook my hand! Congratulated me. I got a journal of one lady to record my day, a glass ornament of my Nan, flowers of my aunt and a CD and a altered xmas card (it was really sweet) off this other gentlemen. I introduced my brother to everyone - he loved the idea that is sister had just got dunked! typical 10year olds! lol! It was just really amazing!!!! I AM SOOOOO HAPPPYYYYY!!!!!! Everyone slowly left and I stayed for a while chatting to people, there is a bday party being held there so they were setting up for that, I am going to it later on tonight! I finally dragged myself away after chatting to people and came home. My Nan and Aunt were delighted and loved all the people saying they were very friendly. My mum still seems a bit uneasy and mizzy about it - she cant seem to smile saying oh I enjoyed it for you when I asked her - but seems accepting other than that so I am pleased!!!!!

Congratulations! I'm also really happy for you. Write everything down in the journal you received because I'm sure you'll want to remember everything in the future.

Thank you so much, Laura! I'm so glad that everything went so well. Your mom will come around; it sounds like she's part way there already. Your whole family will realize right away that you're the same person they've always known and loved -- only better, because you now have a purpose in your life, knowledge about who you really are and what you can become. It's hard to believe that just three months ago, you came to RF as an agnostic! Let us know how things go tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you and about how it will be for you when you hear the words, "Receive the Holy Ghost."
