President Hinckley on the status of women
Taken from "Standing for Something", pg. 158
"There is no place in the Judeo-Christian ethic for inferiority or superiority between husband and wife. Does God love and value His daughters less than His sons?
Such a notion is unthinkable and totally outside the realm of the character of the Almighty.
After the Lord created the earth, and everything upon it, He created man. And then, as the crowning act of creation, He created woman.
She was the ultimate of all His creations. It is unwise, unfair, and unenlightened for any man to feel an edge of superiority toward his wife, his daughters, or any woman.
No man can demean or belittle his wife without giving offense to her Father in Heaven."
