King Noah/King Limhi and a ceremony (ritual, Moses, hell)

I was reading in Mosiah tonight with my husband and I came across this verse:

Mosiah 19:24

"And it came to pass that after the had ended the ceremony, that they returned to the land of Nephi, rejoicing, because their wives and their children were not slain' and they told Gideon what they had done to the king."

What ceremony are they talking about? I couldn't find any footnotes or explanation for it.

I believe the ceremony refers to "paying tribute" from verses 15 and 22.

I don't know about that, we were reading out of a 'family edition' that has quotes and things and it identified ceremony as ritual in that verse. Does that clear it up or am I still as confusing as ever?

I believe the annual tribute was a ceremony or ritual. If you're going to do something once a year, it's probably surrounded by ceremony.

I guess I'm a bit slow, but what kind of tribute was it? Was it the tribute to the Lamanite king?

it almost sounds like people going to jerusulm or another temple once a year to go to a ceramony of sacrafices... which they would need to do to follow the laws of moses at a temple or it was a custom that the king put into place to insure obedance from the people...
