Friends (Earth, reincarnation, hell, doctrine, eternity)

What will become of your friends when you get to heaven? I know you will be with your family (theoretically), because there is that possibility of getting sealed, but what about my friends? If we were both in the same degree of glory, would we get to visit each other? What if I was in the celestial and my friend in the terrestial? Or the telestial (since that would be even a bigger trip)?

I think most Christians entertain the thought that their friends are appreciated as much by God as they are, and will end up in Heaven with them.

I believe you can certainly visit friends as long as they are in the same degree or lower degree than you. Those in the Celestial can visit those in the terrestial or telestial, but no one can make visits going up the ladder.

I'm not absolutely sure what the official doctrine on the subject is, Aqualung. I've heard that all of the relationships we forge here on earth that are valuable to us will continue into the next life. That would make sense to me. For me, the bigger issue, is will I be with my pets. I know we believe they are resurrected, but I'm not aware that any of our leaders have ever made a statement concerning our relationships with them. Joseph Smith said that everything we have lost in this life will be restored in the resurrection. That's a comfort to me. (Unless he was referring to weight! )

According to most people, i'm going to hell.

But when you die... you're dead. You finailly get to rest for eternity, and that's a comforting feeling...we get to return to the earth we came from. Unfortunatley i dont think i'll see my friends after I die, and i dont think they'll see me.

But maybe, just maybe if reincarnation is true, we might...

I don't see why we wouldn't be able to continue to have relationships with friends in the next life. I believe that we had relationships with many of our friends in this life in the previous life, and I assume that the next life will be similar.

This is my understanding also, however. I was under the impression that we could only step down one level from where we were assigned. Example Celestial to Terrestrial or Terrestrial to Telestial.

on the subject of friends, I just read a book, by an LDS author, who had died and gone to Paradise and returned to his body three or four times while in a coma. He said that he had met friends there, that he had known in the pre-existence. One of his friends from the pre-existence lived about a thousand years before, on earth, and the other one lived 200 years before, on earth. He was amazed at this. We have friends that we don't even remember, because the memories of them have been erased.

I have had several dreams with real people in them that I have never seen before. Their personalities were so familiar to me, and I felt good being in their presence. Maybe these were people I knew before coming to earth, or maybe it was just my imagination running wild in a dream. All I know is that I dream about people I have never seen before and I can see their faces and feel their personalities.

Anybody had this experience?

Don't forget all the friends we have made in the pre-existence. Many are waiting for us to return.

Funny joke about the weight. I will have to use that one.

About the pets. I used to watch a program on TV where this guy would talk to deceased relatives and usually their pets were with them. This was a common question that was asked. Pets are a part of the next life. I have a personal story to confirm this also. It is too long to share riight now cause I am tired. It is sort of a silly story but it proved to me that even the least of our pets will be there if you want them to be. I know this first hand because of an experience I had.

This LDS author I spoke about earlier confirmed the fact that animals are part of the next world also. He was able to view a seen where there were mountains and streams and meadows with deer, birds, fish, etc. While he was viewing this a lion approached him and it startled him. He was afraid yet could read the thoughts of the lion. The lion said to not be afraid and that all the animals were safe here and do not harrm one another. He was able to touch the mane of the lion and could feel the hair. He was again amazed at this. Everything that exists on earth exists in Paradise, which he had a chance to visit. Truely things were created spiritually before they were created physically, he said.

The next life will not be boring or placid, if that is the word. a big glass ball might be the base of the celestial kingdom but it would be kind of boring if it was just covered in glass without any topography. I think that the earth will be glass as it says in scripture but with a covering of things that we enjoy here on earth. Just a thought. There will be mountains, animals, buildings, food, etc. Food and buildings were mentioned by this LDS author also.
