So, I got a new calling today. I'll be teaching the 10 year olds. The class consits of 3 boys, each of which apparantly has "special" needs, basically meaning that they don't know how to sit quietly and listen. I met two of them today, and they seem like good enough kids, so I think things will go all right. Any good advice?

make sure you're prepared each week with the lesson, be flexible if they don't want to hear it, and lots and lots of prayer.

I don't know if it would work with them, but some of my teachers encourage questions/correct answers by giving candy... if they have trouble listening sugar might not be the best idea, but maybe something like grapes or some other kind of fruit could motivate them? Food's one of the best motivators, I think... in all the classes I had that did that, you've never seen so many hands shoot up at once to answer a question...

When it comes to callings, Aqualung, good sense often doesn't appear to be part of the equation. After a period of time working in the Nursery, I finally told one of the counselors in the Bishopric that if they didn't release me, I was going to stop paying my tithing! A couple of weeks later, I got a new calling and the Bishop got my tithing check.

Or just start travelling around visiting your kids and/or husband. Worked for me. I am being "replaced" in the nursery, but still have to keep the pesky family history centre worker calling.
