Hello, how you doin, salaams, shalom, and peace be unto you (take your pick)
Name: Hakimah Shaheed. Hakimah=wisdom and Shaheed= witness or martyr. When I was born: 6/6/78. I still consider myself a young'n even though 30 is around the corner. Where I'm at right now: Chicago,Illinois. Born and raised on the westside of the city. This side of town is most notable for its high poverty rate, high teen pregnancy rate, and high mortality rate. I haven't succumbed to any of that thank God. I live on the southside of the city along the coast. This side is most notable for being along the lakefront, being extremely cold (in winter) because of wind off that lake, and being a good place to go shopping. What I am: A muslim, a woman, and a good wife if I must say so myself. My personality: I'm a pretty easy going gal. I am very non-confrontational person. I dislike arguments and am always trying to diffuse them. I'm big on finding middle grounds, and will compromise when I am able and when necessary. I'm shy about meeting new people, I get stage fright easily, and would rather observe people for a period of time before deciding if I would like to associate with them. I never talk if I have nothing to say or no useful input or comments. I've got a whacky sense of humor. I can make a joke out of just about anything, and that little quality has gotten me into my fair share of trouble. I can be difficult to get to know if I think a person is a phony. I'm easy to like if a person can get me to talk. I like to have fun, but the only problem with that is the things I like to do aren't really the things my friends and family like to do, such as: I like drag racing, but the car I was racing is broken now. Plus my hubby never liked the idea of me racing up and down I-90 at all hours. I like to play football as well as watch it, but I got nobody to play with. Plus I'm an adult now so running at full speed, then falling to the concrete ground has a different effect on the body at this age. I like to skate but not good at that at all. Nobody around me even wants to skate despite knowing how. Things I like: Shopping at Walmart and Anna Linens, thinking, laughing, taking walks, hanging with my hubby aka best friend, cars, movies, japanimation, being alone, going to the lakefront, barbecues and cookouts, all kinds of body and bath stuff, singing, playing pc games, just to name a few. Things I hate: Lies, people with two or more faces, irrationality, being laughed at, racism, people who don't know me attacking my character, and know-it-alls. I kept this list short because it could be very long. I can't think of anything else to type so if you wanna ask a question feel free........ |

How long have you lived in Chicago and where is your family from? Is there a mosque in Chicago you attend?
Are the chicago bears the greatest football team on the planet? Also, when you watch football on tv do you yell at the players or are you reserved and quaint when watching the game? Please tell us about the linen layout in your place. |

I am well pleased with the Bears overall. This last game though I don't know. The offense showed up but the defense was asleep until the end of the game and going into overtime. Now I know that one of their star defense players is out, but you have to make adjustments. You can't run the same D if the offense has figured you out. The Bears offense really did a good job putting points on the board though. Rex made some good decisions Sunday that really won the game for them. I liked that he threw the bal away sometimes rather than cough it up when he's hit, or throw it anywhere when he hasn't got any reads. I like it that teams are scared to kick the ball to Hester. The key to his success is that if you watch him, he follows his blocks very well. You get good yardage when you follow your blocks cuz that's what the guys are there for ya know.........
I just hope in this next game the Bears D shows up. They've got the best in the league so they need to play like they want it. Even if they don't make the superbowl (which I would love to see the chargers vs Bears and see how thye handle LT.), it'll be cool cuz with a healthy defense the next season they could win. Rex will have gotten much more experience so they should be much better next year whether they win it all this year or not. Oh yeah my actual linens suck but the rest of my place is so cool. moved into it in August and I'm so happy now. My old place sucked big ones, so I was glad to get out of there. Anna Linens has more than linens you know. I am redoing my bathroom now, and they've got so much nice house accesseries. So my bathroom was beige, white, and a splach of burnt orange. Now it's ice blue and chocolate brown its so cute. Ilove to decorate. I should have been an interior decorator. I'm pretty good at putting the right colors and textures together, along with just the right knick knacks. |

Congrats on being a Mod. Yaay for woman power. You sound sort of like me, except for the football and drag racing stuff. I am very shy, especially about meeting new people, but when I get to know them, I can't stop yapping. Ask my fiance...I talk for long on the phone and I keep him up late. I also have stage fright; yet still the Pundit from our Temple insists that I make speeches. Ooh, my honey is also my best friend. Aw, you sound so sweet.

Here's a question for another non-confrontational person- when you have to deal with it, what method do you use? (I'm always looking for better ways to approach this!)
