ok, now the question gets even tougher... which state of Vimes? at the start of guards guards, he's a drunk in the gutter. at the end of Fifth Elephant, he's an embassador and a pain in the hiney for some rather shadey characters, directing international politics on a world scale.

i think you will agree that we see some serious character development with Vimes, so, at what point would you choose Vimes?

I'm ashamed to say I've never read 'Gaurds,Guards!'. My first meeting of Vimes was in 'Men At Arms', and I have to say I've liked him from the start.

Um, I like birds. Especially ravens and raptors (hawks, eagles etc.) I'd own a raptor, but the licencing is very strict and has conditions regarding exibiting the birds and running education programs that I'm just not able to meet, so I plan in the not to distant future to get a Kookaburra, which is a species of bird I'm also very fond of...they're real little personalities. Well, not quite so much of the little.

Lady Lazarus is a poem by Sylvia Plath, dealing with her suicide attempts. It's also my favourite Plath poem - possibly my favourite poem bar none. My sig at the time;

Out of the ash
I rise with my red hair
And I eat men like air.

is the last stanza. It's a user name I use reasonably widely. I changed it because another person signed up to RF as LadyLazarus, and in the end it just got confusing for me, and apparently other people as well. The PM I got from someone telling me I should rethink my nontheistic ways lest it go badly for me was about the end of my tether.
So, based I think partly on the fact that it's another poem I really like and partly on a dream I had in which two ravens were leading me somewhere, I was Quoth The Raven.
