A: To help the chicken in its journey to the other side. Hi Booko! <waves> Our new office manager is Baha'i from Iran. Talking with her makes me wonder about differences in beliefs amongst Baha'i from different parts of the world. Would you be aware of any significant differences?

Also, I've noticed there are American Baha'is and Baha'i Americans. Also Persian Baha'is and Baha'i Persians. Sometimes the cultural influence is greater than the religious one. Whether that applies to me or your new office manager in any way, I'm sure I couldn't say! Because of those cultural differences, some groups tend to be a little more ahead on some of the teachings than others. For example, the idea of equality of men and women is not real tough for Americans to stomach. The idea of not drinking alcohol and asking parents for permission is a real stumbling block for us, though. Asians sometimes have a rough time with the idea that arranged marriages are strictly forbidden. Every culture has something in the Writings that's easy to take, and something else that's a real challenge. Eventually we'll catch up on the areas we're behind and end up in the same place. In the meantime, people don't get their noses out of joint over it. The most significant difference I can think of: offer her tea, not coffee. With sugar cubes. Darjeeling is best.Oh, if you really want to surprise her sometime, greet her with the Baha'i greeting of "Allah-u-Abha" sometime. (Ah-LLAH-oo-Ahb-HA is a close approximation). It means "God is Glorious." Let me know the reaction if you do. ![]() |

Booko, I have two quetions for u
first , what it means to be an athiest does it mean , not having a particular religion , but still believing in God ? or what ? the second, when u said that u came to the conclusion that Baha ullah is a prophet ( as he claimed ) u didn't seem very certain to me I would never say the same thing about prophet Muhammed _ peace be upon him _ and please correct me , if I was wrong |

Hi, Maro! Just to let you know, this is a discussion thread. If you're wanting to debate things like people's gods, you might wish to create a debate thread for that purpose. Thanks!
