Kids/pets: None of our own, but we borrow other people's kids, and give them back. We have two kitties, Callie who just turned 6 and Chester who will be 2 this October.

Interests: Automobiles, especially VWs, baseball, softball, bowling, astronomy, history, travel(moreso as I get older), tinkering with older Macintosh computers

Origin of life view: God created the world, and it has been evolving ever since. I find people who reject either Creationsim or Evolution to be very limited in their thinking.

Political spectrum: Fiscal conservative. Social moderate. At the moment, I'm rather disgusted with BOTH US political parties.

Glen, what position do you play in softball/ Also, what is your avg bowling score and what attracted you to the disciples of Christ as opposed to some other Christian church?

Softball...wherever they need me. I've played everywhere except catcher. Tomorrow night, I'll probably pitch.

Bowling...usually around 190. I'm pretty good, but not consistant enough to compete in tournaments. I guess I could if I took it seriously, but the prize monies aren't that good for the time it takes.

As for the DOC...our church was founded in 1921, and my grandmother joined in 1923 as pianist, and later organist and music director. My parents have held leadership roles, and growing up, it was assumed I would take my place. I drifted away when I was in college, visited many other churches, but the reason I came back was the open communion table. Not to put down any other faith, but I just could not think of any reason that Jesus would turn anyone away from the table. I am especially proud of our slogan:

Resolve to Love • Agree to Differ • Unite to Serve • Break Bread Together

Not too long ago my friend was ordained as a pastor/preacher with the DOC Church. That was my last "church" expirience...... and not an overly good one. I must say though, it was one of the few times I was invited to partake in Communion, but I got the same reaction from the congregation when I took to offer to come up and refused the bread and wine..........

I can't speak for other Disciples churches, but we don't put any pressure on anyone to come forward nor do we look down on anyone who doesn't take communion. Most services, our deacons serve communion, so nobody comes forward.

As for the garden......we live in a condo and don't have a garden, but Brandy does have some flowers growing in planters. on our patio.

Yes. I guess that's part of the reason I'm feeling a growing desire to travel more. I was born at Emory Hospital in Decatur, lived in Tucker except a couple of years in Peachtree Corners, went to school at Georgia Tech, and go to church in Decatur....all within about 20 miles of each other.

I have been as far west as Dallas, TX; south-Miami, FL, east and north-Boston, MA, and midwest(sort of)-Cleveland, OH. Maybe it IS time to gas up the Bug and go somewhere.

I know you said 5, so consider this a bonus.
Jimmy Carter Museum and Library - If you're into history, this is a must see.
The King Center - Learn about the lives of Dr. Rev Martin Luther King, Jr and Coretta Scott King as well as the Civil Rights struggle.
Georgia Aquarium - We haven't been yet, but it's getting rave reviews. The crowds have been crazy, and we're waiting for them to die down a bit.
Stone Mountain Park - Especially fun for history buffs and after dark, a cool laser show set to music using the mountain as the screen.
Sundial Restaraunt - atop the Westin Peachtree Plaza, the dinner is a bit pricey, but the view is neat!
Turner Field - Even if you're not a baseball or Braves fan, it's a neat place to catch a game.

Atlanta is a pretty neat place.
