Have you practiced any of the martials arts consistently, or do you dabble? I'm partial to Cuong Nhu, Aikido, Wing Chun & Judo (ground-fighting rocks!) myself... but I had a back injury and am building up the strength to return to it.

Tang Soo Do and Kum Do I have been practicing consistently for the past 11 years. The others I have dabbled. I have dabbled in Cuong Nhu as well, my cousin is a 5th degree in it, and we used to train together. It is very similar to Tang Soo Do. Much of the hyung (forms) are the same or similar. I hope you are able to return, martial arts (I feel) is the most amazing lifestyle to have.

Thanks! It wasn't planned or anything either. I was just sitting outside playing, and Ramse (the cat) came and sat next to my leg and put his tail on my leg. And we sat there for like 15 minutes. Then my girlfriends mom decided it was too good of a shot and took a picture.

Any traditional art. Whether it be traditional Tang Soo Do, Kung Fu, Karate, etc... Many schools are heading into more of a "tournament" based philosophy, but the traditional schools do not rely so heavily on tournaments. Tae Kwon Do for example, has become such a "sport" now that the "art" is very hard to find. Which schools are around you, and which martial arts do they offer? I can do some research on them for you.

MV, I love the "woke up" part. If I have a phone (which I don't), I turn it off for just that reason .

Nice page

Dan, how can you live out there and not totally dig hiking? Or did you just kinda forget to put that on your list? What componets of the martial arts interest you the most? Can you tell us about one or two types of training sessions you have either alone or in a group for the arts? How did you learn to play the flute? If nobody woke you up and you were late as a result would that be a pet peeve also? (not being woken-up).
