hey everyone!

just wanted to post this... i was in the Library today, looking for a book

basically, i am going to re-assess my opinion of the Wiccan view of the God and the Goddess, because that was the main thing that put me off Wicca when i first looked at it as a potential religion. anyway, i found the book i wanted (Vivianne Crowley, Wicca: the old religion in the new millennium) and as i was walking away after picking up the book, my eye was caught by another book on the shelf opposite.

i went to have a look at the book that had caught my eye, and i'm quite glad that i did! it was a book called "the way of the Shaman" by Michael Harner.

i've been wanting to look into Shamanism for a while now because it's one of the Pagan ways that i don't know much about, but i've only been interested in looking at it from an academic point of view, where as this book that i picked up was from a practical point of view.

obviously i took the book out, and i've already read the introduction, and am interested in reading the rest of this book and putting it into practice!

i will have to think about this on a deeper level than i am right now, but i think i can reconcile being both a Witch and a Shaman.

hey everyone!

i've finished all my coursework at uni now, and am revising for exams in about 2/3 weeks. it's going really well, i'm on top of the topics i need to be so my time is pretty spaced at the moment

i've chosen my modules for next year, i've got to do two core modules for religious studies, the first one is Asian religions and the second one is Western religions - basically covering Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

after that i get to choose 2 more modules! i've chosen to do a further module in Hinduism because it looks like a really interesting religion, and out of all the other world religions i would potentially draw closer to Hinduism than any of the others, so i'm hoping to get some comparative stuff between Hinduism and Paganism

i also chose to do a half module in Sociology of religion and another half module in new spiritualities of life.

i am dropping the philosophy and ethics elements and focusing totally upon the religions. while ethical philosophy is good, i am more interested in applied ethics as opposed to theoretical ethics, and i can do applied ethics in each religious topic, so i don't reel like i am missing out.
