Default Jewish Messiah and the Second Coming

I'm interested in learning, not debating, some basic tenets of Judaism concerning the coming of the Messiah. I will need to use Christian language to ask the question, as that's the language I know. I believe the Old Testament prophesies of two comings of the Messiah to the earth. The first coming was when Jesus was born. The second is when Jesus will return to rule on earth. If I understand correctly, Jews believe a Messiah will come. Obviously they do not accept the birth of Jesus as this event. There are a pool of Old Testament prophesies which refer to what I believe is the Second Coming of the Messiah. Do Jews believe in the same pool of scriptures, except that they predict the first and only coming of the Messiah, rather than the Second Coming? Are there similarities in how these prophesies are interpreted by Jews and Christians or are the interpretations entirely different? Are Jews waiting for the Messiah to come, and is their view of what it will be like when He comes, similar to the view Christians have of what it will be like when the Messiah returns? If similar, how so? If not, how not?

There were many messiahs in the Jewish scriptures. Not all of them are about THE Messiah. The only instance I have ever seen in Jewish prophecy concerning a messiah coming back is the promise that the Prophet Elisiah would proceed the Messiah, which has yet to happen, correct?

Are there similarities in how these prophesies are interpreted by Jews and Christians or are the interpretations entirely different?

You would need to cite these verses before a discussion could take place concerning them.

Are Jews waiting for the Messiah to come, and is their view of what it will be like when He comes, similar to the view Christians have of what it will be like when the Messiah returns?

Yes they await his coming but it differ s from the christian view. There is a big difference between a Moshiach and a Christ. Here is a good article from Aish.com about the Jewish Moshiach.

I've had this bookmarked for quite some time. Maybe it will help.
