When "discussing" the need to keep the Sabbath with non-Sabbath keepers, the question invariably come up with regard to the uninterrupted continuity of the seven day weekly cycle. They insist that we can’t know if today’s seventh day of the week is the same seventh day that was established at creation week, or for that matter the same seventh day that was kept in the first century. I wonder if anyone on this forum knows of any documentation that shows that continuity, at least from the first century down to today?

I think the seven-day cycle has been well preserved by the millions of communities all over the world and down through history who have observed it. It's not rocket science. Everyone has calendars. Everyone can count to seven. There is no real debate or disagreement about this.
Christians may debate the propriety of observing their holy day on Sunday rather than Sabbath, but there is no debate among scholars or historians about the fact of this. The political expediencies of the day, which led to the transition, are well documented. |

the Torah says that 6 days you will work and on the 7th day you rest. It's not a matter of making sure the exact day of the week is the same as that from the act of creation, simply that you observe rest on the 7th day of the week.
The talmud even relates that if you are somewhere where you can not tell what day it is to simply count 6 days and the 7th is Shabbat.
