There are several variations, but, the spelling I have seen most often is yarmulke.
When my high school Humanities class visited a synagogue, we were asked to wear one as we entered. The rabbi told us it was a symbol that God was over each one of us. Someone once told me not to "diss the mighty Wik", but I've learned to treat it as a good source of information, but not the absolute truth. ![]()
