Chosen Race? (Jesus, priests, rejecting, Moses, Earth)

Do you believe that Jews are God's Chosen people?

Yes but not as most would think.

"Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people. For all the earth is mine: and you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation" (Exodus 19:5, 6)

At a McDonalds there are cashiers, fry cooks, burger makers and managers. The managers are the chosen of the corporation. It doesn't make them worth more than the fry cooks. It just means they have a different job to do.

In our politically correct society it is always frowned on to think or say that everyone is not absolutely equal and on the same playing field.

I agree and do not view the Jews as a race per say. It is about lineage and observance.

God is the God of the whole universe.

If he were to pick any one to be "Chosen" why would he pick a race that that had been so troublesome to him.
Through out the old testament he was remonstrating with them... they later rejected Jesus " who at the very least was sent by God as a teacher and Profit"... they were scattered to the four corners... and they still continue with their old ways to this day... they have been persecuted and slaughtered...

This does not sound like a people who are favoured by God.

It is a bit of misnomer to be called chosen because it sounds like everyone else is getting screwed. This is not the case.

The idea that G-d punished the Jews for rejecting Jesus is clearly in error. Deutoronomy 13 Moses warns them,


1. Everything I command you that you shall be careful to do it. You shall neither add to it, nor subtract from it.

2. If there will arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,

3. and the sign or the wonder of which he spoke to you happens, [and he] says, "Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us worship them,"

4. you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the Lord, your God, is testing you, to know whether you really love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.

We see here that they are commanded to follow Torah and nothing that they were not taught. G-d then warns that there will be false prophets that He Himself will allow to come to test them. for the Jew to reject Jesus is one of the things they DID get right.

The soul is the same in everyone. We are all equal in God's eyes. We are all his children. One group is not more "chosen" than the other. We all have the potential to awaken the Divinity within. All of us are chosen.

On the other hand, the Jews as a people have managed to survive quite some time, and quite likely any group of people would have been bothersome at some point or another.

But I don't really believe it, myself.
