Default The name Israel?

I have a few questions for those of the Jewish faith on this board:

1. It has been said that Israel comes from 2 Ancient Egyptian gods and one Canaanite god. Is=Isis, Ra=Amon Ra, El=Saturn. Is there validity to this?

2. Why do Jews (Christians and Muslims also) say Amen when they pray? Does Amen stem from Amon Ra or is there another history behind it?

3. The name YHWH is written Jehovah and Yahweh by Christians, yet Josephus stated that YHWH has four syllables. Is it true that no Jews know the pronunciation and that the King Moshiach will return the use of the word to the Priests in the 3rd Temple when his work is complete by using it in prayer? (The name of The LORD was used by David before he slew Goliath and by all of The LORD's prophets throughout the Bible. Why has the name been forgotten?

4. It is has been said that Moses was ThutMOSIS (Akhenaten's half brother/Pharaoh of Egypt). Is there validity to this or not?

5. There are 12 Tribes. Of those 12 Tribes, are the Kings of Egyptian Pharaoh decent?

6. Do Jews believe that Adam and Eve were the first human beings and that the Genology in the Torah is literal?

7. Is the Creation Story in Bereshit taken to be literal or theoretical?

8. Isaiah 82:6 states: "I have said, 'Ye are gods (godlike beings) and all of you are sons (children) of the Most High." Does this mean that the King Moshiach is merely a man Anointed by God? Or is the King Moshiach to be anointed by a priest or prophet? It is said that Elijah will come before Moshiach. Will he anoint him or will Moshiach simply be received by Israel as Anointed once he accomplishes his work?

9. Do Jews have an expected name for the Moshiach? A name that he was given at birth?

10. "There will arise in the world a King, a fully enlightened Buddah (Awakened One) endowed with wisdom and conduct. He will teach the law and proclaim the holy life in its fullness and purity." - Buddha (What do Jews believe in regards to Buddha?)

Sorry, I know that is quite a few questions.

Hi johnathanrex,

<1. It has been said that Israel comes from 2 Ancient Egyptian gods and one Canaanite god. Is=Isis, Ra=Amon Ra, El=Saturn. Is there validity to this?>

all i know on this is that Jacob took the name 'Israel' in later life.

<2. Why do Jews (Christians and Muslims also) say Amen when they pray? Does Amen stem from Amon Ra or is there another history behind it?>

In Judaism, it is taught that the word Amen is an acronym for אל (’El) מלך (melek) נאמן (ne’eman), meaning "God, King [who is] Trustworthy. the word 'amen' also has the value of 99 in greek numerals, and the word 'amen' appears the bible 99 times apparently?????

<3. Why has the name been forgotten?>

Only the high priest knew and was allowed to use the true name of G-D, and only in the temple and only on one day of the year, so because of that, it has been lost.

<4. It is has been said that Moses was ThutMOSIS (Akhenaten's half brother/Pharaoh of Egypt). Is there validity to this or not?>

Don't know, but there is a hell of alot of evidence to say Judaism either came from egypt or at least was influenced by it, Moses was egyptian after all, a member of the egyptian royal family, and monotheism ran in Akhetaten's family until he took it mainstream and incurred the wrath of the theban priesthood. Personally i believe the exodus was a peaceful departure from egypt, the israelites were there working and earning good money, but when the work dried up/or because they supported Akhetatens new faith in one nameless faceless god of peace and love, they headed off looking for the next boom town. remember the word hebrew comes from the egyptian word habiru which means 'migrant worker' when the theban priesthood reaserted itself after the death of Akhenaten, Moses probably decided to hitch a ride with the Israelites/habiru since both believed in Akhetatens new faith. The israelites/habiru were a congregation without a priest and moses was a priest without a congregation!

<5. There are 12 Tribes. Of those 12 Tribes, are the Kings of Egyptian Pharaoh decent?>

don't know but there was plenty of positive interaction between israel and egypt, appart from the questionable exodus, there is little friction between them, egypt was like a big brother to israel, granting permits to israelites to live in the still fertile delta in times of famine, trade, etc. all the main characters of the bible spent time in egypt, becoming friends with various Pharaohs and leaving richer than when they arrived,

<8. Isaiah 82:6 states: "I have said, 'Ye are gods (godlike beings) and all of you are sons (children) of the Most High." Does this mean that the King Moshiach is merely a man Anointed by God? don't know but interestingly there are a number of occasions in the psalms when G-D refers to other gods??? on the whole egyptian thing you might want to check out isaiah chapter 19 verse 24-25!

hope this helps!

What does 24-25 have to do with whole Egyptian thing?

I noticed that you avoided 9 and 10.
