hey, i am an agnostic who comes from dual cultures. my mother is a liberal catholic, and my dad is an agnostic, jew by birth, who has been attending some UU services. i was raised catholic till about 4th grade, and became an athiest, then gradually an agnostic after wanting to convert to judaism. summer of 99 i think we were in israel visiting family and my dad said i was half jewish, something i had never heard of, especially from my dad who is not religous at all. ever since, along with christmas i do chanukkah, and do both easter and a passover seder, i have a confirmation name and a hebrew name and consider myself culturally half jewish and half gentile, neither gentile or jew but a kind of insider-outsider. i know that judaism is based, now, on maternal descent, and most jews dont believe in half judaism. but it is who i am. i would like to hear peoples thoughtd
