Sharia Law in the UK

As a practicing British Muslim I feel absolutely outraged by Dr Williams naivety. The Sharia Law is man-made; made in favour of men by men 1400 years ago with underlining archaic and misogynistic attitudes. Adopting the sharia law in Britian, regardless in whatever form ie. mediation purposes in marriages, will only lead to oppression of women.
All British people regardless of cultural heritage or religion should follow British Law.

How does having separate laws encourage integration and cohesion within British society?

I would not wish to be governed by sharia laws; and I'm sure I speak for many Britons. From my obervations most countries who rule by sharia reduce a womens' value to less than half of a man. People have little autonomy, especially women and children, and hence fail to thrive and evolve ie. it infantilises the population.

Family disputes, says Dr Williams, would be easier within sharia. For whom?
For polygamous muslim men living in Britain? Certainly not for the women who will be forced to accept unjust verdicts as God's authority by religious persecutors.
Maybe women will also, under pressure, be forbidden to drive!

We already have our own laws, if people wish to live under a different set of laws then they should move to an area of the world where those laws exist. People of non-native origin should not be able to change the laws of a country to suit themselves, I wouldn't expect to live under British law in Saudi Arabia, nor in America for that matter.

Indeed. It also ignores the many Muslims who emigrated to the UK (and elsewhere) to escape living under Sharia Law.
