Ahahahaha.........yes...lol!!!
![]() Thanks Halcyon, you're partially right; the word "islam" is derived from the root "salama" which is the same root of "salaam". Anyway, I don't think it's a big deal...

as-salam 'alaykum / Peace on you / Shalom/ Que la Paix soit avec vous
arabic root : S-L-M or salam means "to be secure" from this arbiac root we can derive a lots of words like "aslama", "salam" (peace), muslim , Soulayman (Prophet Salomon Peace on him),sallama (to greet) etc ... aslama : - arabic verb form IV - means "to subject sb/sth to , become muslim, to obey , to resign" From each arabic verb we can generate a verbal action. We can imagine that all the words in arabic are organize like logicals trees and each branch (word) derive from others . We can travel inside this tree like we learn a logical science and to build many words to materialize our thoughts. so "Islam" is the verbal noun or verbal action of the verb "aslam" (form IV). So "islam" means literally "submission " salama (root)-> aslama (verb form IV)-> islam (verbal noun IV) to learn more about arabic language see : e-qra.com But Allah is more learned. as-salam 'alaykum
