a question from a non-Muslim. If you celebrate his birthday and he is not on earth aren't you in danger of celebrating an image of him? The birthday is a symbolistic idea and could be perceived as an image right?

ok let me re-phrase. One celebrate his birthday. He may or may not be present in spirit but in flesh he is gone. He lost that body some 1600 years ago after expiring his fleshly existence due to old age. If one celebrate his b-day is one not celebrating an image of his flesh-earthy existence ?

Christianity celebrates a lot of Jesus's life, why should the prophet of Islam be any different, he is just as important and just as holy.
Unless it is forbidden by the Koran i think he should be celebrated, especially as Islam is the worlds fastest growing religion, even more so in western cultures. On a side note, is it offensive to the muslim communities within western countries to see celeb rations of the death of jesus, christmas and all that. Would it offend you if someone said "merry christmas" to you? Sorry for my lack of knowledge ![]() |

the prophet muhhamad(saw) himself prohibited celeberating anyone's birthday due to the fact it is 1 year closer to death.
no io would not find it offensive that christians celeberate the death of isa(as) becuase everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and i don't believe jesus(pbuh) actually died
