Default What is the Message of Islam?

Please forgive my ignorance but I have never made the acquaintance of a Muslim. Most of the web sites I have visited in my quest for answers seem to be unfruitful. They mostly tell of Mohammed's declaration as the Final Messenger. I still have no small grasp on what the Message was. Could someone help me here? What is the foundation of this Message? If someone could tell me where to begin my understanding, where would they begin?

Hello Love

As far as faith is concerned, the message of Islam is the same as that of all of God's prophets, which is Monotheism

As far as life is concerned, the message of Islam is one of peace and justice, and to make this world a better world

On the individual level, the message of Islam is an invitation for people to become better people and to increase in good manners and getting to know God and following His Guidance to attain His Love and Mercy

God is one & only one. God has no relative (son/sibling/parents etc). & prophet Muhammad(pbuh) was His last prophet. .... though still in future prophet Jesus(pbuh) will come to guide de-railed ppl, BUT he won't b any new prophet he had already come in past & was taken to heavens without being killed/crucified.

Muslim is a person who believes infollowing 5 things:-
1>One God (Allah)
2>All prophets sent by Allah & that Muhammad was last prophet.
3>Holy revelations given to those prophets.
4>Angels.
5>Day of Judgement.(life after death & going to heaven or hell as per one's deeds)
====================================
5 things a muslim has to perform to b a practicing muslim:-
1>Pray 5 times a day.
2>pay ZAKAAT (compulsory charity given once a year)
3>perform HAJJ (pilgrimage of KABBA)if one has enough health & money to do so.
4>Fast in month of RAMADAAN
5>JIHAAD ("Struggle" in the way of God)

In addition muslim r required to follow teachings of Quram & Muhammad(pbuh).
================================================== ========================
u can see this as well Islam for Christians

I think this is the prayer of all people that love God and some who do not know Him.

God has no relative (son/sibling/parents etc).
To me this seems like you don't think God could become flesh and blood and walk among us.

God is our Creator and our Savior and He will know the faithful no matter what. If you love Him you must love your brother first.I know that I fall short in many aspects of my life but I love God and want to please Him.

God can do anything BUT He does NOT do a lot of things because they r NOT upto His majesty. There r certain things that even God can't do. e.g., He
cannot create another God He cannot throw u out of His kingdom because His kingdom is ALL over & there is nothing out of His kingdom

1)Allah gave us fruit to eat
2)Mohammed told us to use the Quran as criterion to asses the other books and then tell the people of the fake religion, where the errors are...
3) that if we are not serving Allah we are serving something else, so by submitting your self to the way of peace, you follow Islam...
4) That people must not be like the fake religions and forget the extra month, so making 13…..
++++

Yet since i don’t find many doing this am confused as that is what the Quran says....
Yet it also says no one will listen, as they will follow traditions passed down by their forefathers…….

Default The message of Islam

Quote:
What is the message of Islam?
To believe that:
  • there is no god but Allah who has no son and no associate and that Muhammad is the last Messenger of Allah.
  • to believe in all the Messengers sent by Allah and to love them and to believe in the books revealed to them.
  • to believe in the angels
  • to believe in destiny be it good or bad
  • to believe in the day of Judgement and russeruction.
The message of Islam is much more, it is a complete way of life, a guide which is compatible with daily life and which is timeless. It is a universal idea that knows no race, no gender, no social class. The Message of Islam is Allah's Instructions to mankind, so that we may be successful in this part of our journey. A Muslim is commanded to do certain things, behave in certain ways, and learn and grow within the community. A Muslim must work and sweat for his or her wages and give generously to those who have little. Equality in economics, justice, politics, and family is essential. Neighborly kindness and support are incumbent. Parents, children, brothers, sisters, husbands, and wives have obligations and rights which form a balance in society. Acquiring knowledge and discipline, and learning how to deal fairly with those around you are challenges directly from Allah swt. A Muslim knows how to handle these tasks by following the Message of Islam.

Peace

What is the basic message of Islam?

God chose Islam for humanity’s individual and collective welfare in both worlds. It is based on belief in and worship of God only, alone and without partners. Such belief and worship requires all believers to be concerned deeply with all of creation, whether animate or inanimate. The deeper their belief in and submission to God, the deeper their concern for all creatures. Belief in His Unity means that no one has absolute freedom when dealing with creatures.
The basic position of Islam vis-à-vis war and peace
Islam is derived from the root s-l-m (salvation, peace, submission) and thus is the expression of God’s Grace flowing in the arteries of the universe. It is the Divine system to which all creatures, except humanity, have submitted willingly. Thus the universe shows no disorder, for Islam is its religion. Everything is Muslim, for it obeys God by submission to His laws. This applies even to atheists or polytheists, for even if people do not believe in God, every part of their bodies follow to course for it prescribed by God’s law.
The principle of Tawhid (Divine Unity) implies the necessity of humanity being in harmony with the surrounding world. The vast universe, including our own world, obeys God and so displays a coherence and harmony. Earth is subject to its own particular set of laws and the general laws of nature, as well as in harmony with other laws governing all phenomena beyond it. Unlike the rest of creation that treads “the path of nature,” we have free will. We have this gift of freedom and its accompanying obligation: to harmonize our life with the rest of nature in the realization that such harmony is the path of our exaltation and progress. This is the path upon which God created human nature:
Set your face to the religion, a man of pure faith—God’s original nature in which He originated mankind. There is no changing God’s creation. That is the right religion, but most people know it not. (30:30)
Islam is the universal order, the integral religion of harmony, and the unique system that harmonizes the physical with the metaphysical, the rational with the ideal, and the corporeal with the spiritual. All dimensions of our earthly life have specific places within Islam’s matrix so that they can perform their own functions and enable us to be at peace with ourselves, our community and nature, and to gain happiness in both worlds.
To harmonize our life with the rest of nature, we first have to realize our own personal integrity by using our free will to keep within the limits established by God. For example, we must restrain our desire so that we do not steal from others, engage in extramarital sex, or use our intellect to exploit others. Rather, we must restrain our intellect with wisdom, and our desire and anger with lawfulness and moderation. Also, since we are social beings, ignoring the limits that God has established can result in wrongdoing, injustice, exploitation, disorder, and revolution.
God does not approve of wrongdoing and disorder, for He wills that we live in peace and according to justice. Thus all believers in and worshippers of the One God are expected to work to secure justice in this world. This task is known as jihad. In English, the most suitable words are struggling or striving.

Cordoba, I have read some of your many posts and your love for God is obvious. I pray you have found the peace and love you speak of in your life.

benign6, on the Day of Judgement what good deed will carry the most weight and what bad deed will carry the most weight?

Peace, can a non-Muslim have equality and neighborly kindness in a Muslim world?

Mary 23, You live in the U.S. Do you think it is easier to practice your religion as you chose in the U.S. or would you be matter off in Iran or Saudi Arabia?

Yes, that was bit difficult there, I am not in U.S now... i accepted Islam and now hav came to Kahsmeer where my Aunt lives, shez Muslim....

love!
As regards to ur point for chosing the religion, i totally disagreed...

Religion is not to chose at the basis of ease...
its based on true values not for ease...

if any religion that is true then we don't care what the matter would be going on after chosing...

Struggle and Strength on the faith never dizzle you on the true route....
