Webb is hard to miss, and his charisma and vision are even harder to ignore. Whether ambling through a bookstore in Old Cairo or sitting on the floor of Al-Azhar directing visitors, Webb is clearly at home. But few Azhari students are tall, blond, blue-eyed and reared on American hip-hop in a rough part of America’s heartland.

More importantly, few students at Al-Azhar share Webb’s daunting mission. Part of the vanguard of a new generation of American Muslim leaders, he is trying to articulate an American Islam that reflects both its heritage of Eastern scholarship and the needs of its American believers. Easy? Not in the slightest.

Q: My husband is a new Muslim, accepted Islam before our marriage, but he is not paying his attention in Islam, doing Prayers only once a week on Friday. When I talk to him about Prayers, always he says Allah is in my heart, & says it's necessary to pray for Allah by heart, even once a month, this behavior is making me scared with Allah, am I also losing my deeds by being his wife, should I live with him or should I leave him, please advice I am so confused.

A: No, you should not leave him.

My advice is to slowly try and massage this person's relation with Allah. Don't grip as men hate that. Talk with him and tell him that you love him, cook his favorite dish and make him feel on top of the world. Then, after that, talk with him with love and mercy and slowly try and encourage him to pray and come back to Allah. Explain that prayer is not an exercise, or a simple ritual, but it has massive effects on our lives and those around us
