Hello, new to these religion forums.

For someone who's entirely new to trying to understand the differences between Sunni and Shia, what's a good/easy to find book to get me started?

It all started when the Muslims transgressed against their own caliphate… then the evils of that, was allowed to spread out by the Muslims… who do I personally blame for this separation between Shia and Sunni? Both sides… they both got caught up in their own desire and forgot their real purpose…

I believe it's better to be honest about the differences between Sunni's and Shiites, as means to find the truth, rather than try to hide them. Wallahu A'lam.

When did this event take place exactly?

In the European calander...Othman was killed at the year 656 on July 17... Othman became Caliphate on the year 644... So he was killed about 1350 years ago...

Masha'Allah. So during the time of 'Uthmaan (RAA), both the Sunni and shi'ite sect existed?

Not to my knowledge... this divide was a direct result of our own evils...
