Who is Allah?
What do Muslims believe about Allah?

1. He is the One God, Who has no partner.

2. Nothing is like Him. He is the Creator, not created, nor a part of His creation.
3. He is All-Powerful, absolutely Just.

4. There is no other entity in the entire universe worthy of worship besides Him.
5. He is First, Last, and Everlasting; He was when nothing was, and will be when nothing else remains.

6. He is the All-Knowing, and All-Merciful,the Supreme, the Sovereign.

7. It is only He Who is capable of granting life to anything.

8. He sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) to guide all of mankind.

9. He sent Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the last Prophet and Messenger for all mankind.

10. His book is the Holy Qur'an, the only authentic revealed book in the world that has been kept without change.

Islam and the Human Being

The question of the nature of Man (the word here refers to the human being and not just to the male Homo sapiens) has been one which has intrigued philosophers throughout the ages. It is a question that deals with the essence of our identity as human beings. Simply stated, it asks us “Who are we?”


Muslims believe that one of the many beauties of Islam is that it gives a kind of outline for identity. However, rather than imposing a constricting framework through which we can move, it creates a strong foundation on which we can build. This outline is to be taken by us and then filled out and personalized, each with his or her personal eccentricities and special traits that make each of us individuals.

This is the message of peace, the message of salvation. This is the message of liberation from being enslaved to mundane things that keep shackling souls with worries and sorrows.

This is a call from the One Who controls everything, calling you, humankind, to submit!

Submit your life to Him and be calm. Make your motto of life La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but Allah). By this motto, you testify to your incapacity as a creature provided with limited faculties. You testify that everything in the universe belongs to Him and whatever He wants will come to pass in the way and the time He wants.

Can God and Evil Co-exist?

Q: I have never been able to understand this problem - I believe that God is good; if so, how can He permit evil people to be controlling most affairs of the world?

A: According to the Qur'an, Allah created humans and put them on earth as His vicegerents. The Arabic term used in the Qur'an is "khalifah, (usually translated, “vicegerent”) which means that man is God's representative or ambassador on earth.

This is a special position Allah has given to man, and this position makes him superior to His other creatures; because this means Allah blessed man with a number of special qualities, such as intelligence, imagination, inquisitiveness and so on and so forth.

Allah also gave him freedom to use his special talents and powers on earth. It is the freedom to use human talents that has made man a creative being, capable of scientific and technological inventions and innovations, as well as artistic creation. But we must know that the freedom God gave man involves some “risk” also, as man can make wrong choices and create havoc. ...
