Default How does Allah just wipe away sins to...

I have to be honest that i am a Christian, and that i have been doing some studying of Islam. So i ask this out of curiosity. As a Christian, i believe that Jesus was the neccesary sacrifice that allows Christians to get to heaven. His blood covers our sins. Going along the same lines of redemption, how can Allah just redeem people so that they can get to heaven? BTW i hope this makes sense otherwise please bare with me.

Thanks for your input,

Salam Arrow, No brother this a very good question. First I would like to thank you for asking about my religion. I first want to tell you that as a muslim. We are not allowed to lie about our religion and if we do we are going to be punished in Hellfire. I also want to add that Allah and his Messenger Muhammed and all the other prophets of Allah are free from any mistakes. And I also want to say that Jesus the son of Mary who according to our Quran is the greatest women in creation. And that he, Jesus was a sign, miracle, and messenger to his people the Jews. Any mistakes made by me is due solely to my lack of knowledge and if I do not know I will go and get the answer from my teachers insha Allah.
Now to answer your question We as muslims believe that Allah is capable and able to do all things, He has many names to describe himself. Among a few of these titles are the Most Mighty, the one Free of all deficiencies, The Most Strong, the Most Compationate, the Most Merciful, the All knowing, Omipotent, Lone Sustainer, the One, The Creator. If we as muslims say that God (Allah) must sacrifice inorder to forgive, or the blood of Jesus must be shed inorder for god to redeem people so they can go to heaven then we are taking away one of the rights that only Allah possesses. He can forgive if you ask him it is well within his power to do this. Nothing is conditional for Allah he does not have to do something inorder to do something else. But there are many ways to get sins forgiven. Most of which are through our actions. We do what Allah commands us to do which includes obeying his Messenger. We do what they say we will live a righteous and just life. When we pray sins are erased when we fast sins are erased. your whole life is a book in which every thing you did will be judged upon and you will be rewarded or punished according. If you do as Allah and his Messenger say you get good deeds and if you commit sins and errors and trangress you get bad deeds in your record. But if you do repent. Ask Allah to forgive you perform certain good deeds, and feel remorse in the heart and refrain from that sin then it is forgiven insha Allah. Then will the scales are put forth your deeds will be weighed good on one side bad on the other. People will want the good ones to weigh the most.

Thank you very much for your input. Okay so now my next question, does one good act cancel out a bad act, if you also ask for forgiveness? And does you going to Heaven depend on the good or bad you do? Forgive me my ignorance of your religion, but i have been raised a total Christiian and i cannot say that my teachers have done your religion justice.

WElcome dear Arrow, you are welcome to ask questions as many as you like and we will be glad and so happy to answer all your questions.

I hope that brother Mujahid Mohammed will come soon also to answer your question but until he comes i'll try to answer you.

In Islam, once a person revert "convert" to islam so God will clean him from all sins he/she comitted in the past to become just as a new born baby in term of cleaness from sin and his/her pure heart. Not only that, but God promised that he will will convert all his/her sins in the past to good deeds after he/she become a muslim. how bad and how much it was, all of it gonna change to good deeds by God Almighty.

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:

Allah the Almighty said:

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind.

O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you.

O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it. It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound.

The word Tawbah (Repentance) in Arabic literally means 'to return'. In an Islamic context, it refers to the act of leaving what Almighty God has prohibited and returning to what He has commanded.

The subject of repentance is one which concerns all people who believe in God, and is vital one for the Muslims to understand because our salvation in the hereafter is dependent on our repentance to God, as is shown by God's order: "And turn you all together in repentance to God, O Believers, that you may be successful." (An-Noor 24: 31)

In the second chapter of the Qur'an, Almighty God tells us: "Surely God loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves." (Al-Baqarah 2: 222)

This shows how pleasing our repenting is to God. Also, the Prophet Muhammad, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, gave us an example of just how pleasing to God our repenting is in an authentic hadith in which he, peace be upon him, said:"God is more delighted with the repentance of His servant than one of you would be, who suddenly finds his camel laden with supplies after losing it in a barren land" (al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Try to imagine your joy if you were to suddenly retrieve everything you ever possessed after losing all hope of recovering what you had lost. Then think that God's delight is even greater than this when His slave repents to Him. So much so, that if man stopped repenting to God, He would replace us with another creation that would turn to Him for forgiveness.

The Prophet, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, said: "If you did not commit sins, God would sweep you out of existence and replace you by another people who would commit sins, ask for God's forgiveness and He would forgive them." (Muslim)

The problem with many of us today, is that we don't fear God the Almighty, which means that we don't think twice about disobeying Him and therefore falling into sin, which we give no real thought to. So perhaps we should think about the statement which Ibn Mas'ood, may God be pleased with him, made: "A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which he is afraid may fall on him, whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this (and he moved his hand over his nose in illustration)." (al-Bukhari)

Never Despair

Someone might say: "I want to repent but my sins are too many". But Almighty God says (in the Qur'an): "Say: O my slaves who have transgressed against themselves: Despair not for the mercy of God, Verily God forgives all sins. Truly He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Az-Zumar 39: 53)

Therefore, we should never lose hope or stop asking for God's forgiveness. Its importance is shown to us in a hadith in which the Prophet, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, said: "O people! Turn to God in repentance and seek His forgiveness, for surely I make repentance a hundred times every day." (Muslim)

Repentance is such a great act of worship that doing it can totally erase our sins altogether, as the Prophet, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, said: "One who repents from sin is like one without sin." (Ibn Majah)

Only Almighty God Can Forgive Sins

Forgiveness for our sins is not something that comes automatically; it is something that must be sought sincerely and with consciousness. Also we should remember that it is only through God's Mercy that anyone will ever enter Paradise. The Prophet, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, advised:"Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and rejoice, for no one's good deeds will put him in Paradise. " The Companions asked: "Not even you, O Messenger of God?" He replied: "Not even me unless God bestows His pardon and mercy on me." (al-Bukhari)

Therefore in Islam, salvation rests on faith (which includes) good actions and hope in God's mercy, all combined in truly unique manner that is not found in any other religion or system.Furthermore, it is only God who can forgive our sins and He is not in need of any intercessor.

The proof for this is in a Du'a (supplication) which the Prophet Muhammad, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him, taught his closest Companion Abu Bakr: "O God, truly I have wronged myself and none can forgive sins except you…" (al-Bukhari, Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)

Therefore it is a complete waste of time asking forgiveness from the people such as "saints", pious people or even the Prophet, may the blessings and peace of God be upon him. Almighty God said in reply to people who do such things: "Verily, those you call upon besides God, are only slaves like yourselves." ( Al-Aa'raf 7: 194)

It is important that we never despair of God's Mercy - no sin is too great to repent for . . . or too little for that matter. As one of the Salaf (Pious predecessors) said: "Do not look at the insignificance of your sins, but consider the greatness of the One you are disobeying." (al-Baihaqi's Sh'abul Eman)

http://www.islamweb.net/ver2/archive...ang=E&id=11703

Remember, our sins can go by many ways such as repntance and doing good deeds whatever it was, even if you saw a tree or a rock on the raod and you were afraid that would harm a creature whether a human being or any other animal and you took it away from there so it would consider as a good deed.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
"A man was walking on a road when he became very thirsty. He found a well and went into it and drank and came out. There was a dog panting and eating earth out of thirst. The man said, 'This dog has become as thirsty as I was.' He went down into the well and filled his shoe and then held it in his mouth until he climbed out and gave the dog water to drink. Allah thanked him for it and forgave him." They said (The Prophet's companions), "Messenger of Allah, do we have a reward for taking care of beasts?" He said, "There is a reward for service to every living creature."

This Hadith was narrated by Abu Hurayra in "Maalik's Muwatta. Version 1.03. Book 49, Number 49.10.23. Sahih Muslim (5777) and Sahih al Bukhari (Vol. 3, no.551 & no.646)

And as brother Cordoba commented on this hadith that:

This hadith is a sign of God's endless Mercy.

By this simple act of giving water to a thirsty dog, this man was forgiven for all his sins and admitted to Paradise.

Mercy towards others and towards animals by believers is a guaranteed path to heaven, as God is The Most Merciful, and He wants us to deal with each other with mercy and compassion.

We have an entire thread about such hadiths and you can find it in this link:
Hadith (Sayings of the Prophet pbuh)

Sorry for the long post.

You are most welcome anytime ..

Hello Arrow:

Going to heaven is through God's Mercy and Forgiveness.

He is The Most Merciful, and He forgives all sins when a believer repents.

On the Day of Judgement, good actions and bad actions will be put on the scales. If good actions exceed bad actions by only one good deed, one would be saved and admitted to Heaven.

Muslims love Jesus, peace be upon him, very much, but he does not take responsibility for the sins of mankind. Each believer is responsible for his or her own acts and deeds. Nobody can take responsibility for the deeds of others.

Peace and all the best.

it is one of the conditions for getting sins forgiven. We are told by the Allah that the best way to get sins forgiven after being commited is to one have remorse in the heart. make salat, which is the muslim prayer and do a good deed as soon as possible. And to refrain from commiting that sin.

Thank you all for taking time out to explain this all to me, but as is always the case i have a couple more questions. I was reading yesterday and found that the idea that God could be incarnate within any human being is blasphemous within the Islamic tradition. I was wondering why is this blasphemous?

Thanks for being patient with me
