Conclusion of Recent Scientific Research (for the record):
A belief in God could lead to a more contented life Religion could offer a "buffer" which protected from life's disappointments. Professor Clark said: "We originally started the research to work out why some European countries had more generous unemployment benefits than others, but our analysis suggested that religious people suffered less psychological harm from unemployment than the non-religious. "They had higher levels of life satisfaction". http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7302609.stm

Tranquility, Hope and Happiness
One of the worries most people have is about what will happen today and in the future (tomorrow, next year, when on pension, ... etc) Faith helps believers deal with these worries in that we know that it is God who provides, it is He who gives health and it is He who solves our problems when we ask Him for help A believer always has hope in a better tomorrow, here and in The Hereafter, which leads to tranquility of the soul and an inner feeling of peace

Happiness in Islam
Happiness is a feeling that resides in the heart. It is characterized by peace of mind, tranquility, a sense of well-being, and a relaxed disposition. It comes as a result of proper behavior, both inward and outward, and is inspired by strong faith. It is the nature of every person to seek happiness. One of the most elusive objectives of every human being is "Happiness." The Noble Qur'an reveals the secret of attaining perfect happiness in this life and forever. We learn from the Noble Qur'an that happiness is an exclusive quality of the soul. Thus, a body that attains all the material successes it longs for - money, power, fame, etc. - often belongs to an unhappy person. Happiness depends totally on the degree of growth and development attained by the soul, the real person. The Noble Qur'an provides a detailed map towards perfect happiness for both body and soul, both in this world and in the eternal Hereafter Grandmother Stories, Islam and Happiness, Secret of Happiness, Authentic Happiness, Signs of Happiness, Wise Old Sayings, Crystal Ball, Money cant Buy Happiness

Keys to Happiness
Happiness is the only goal on earth that all people without exception are seeking to attain. Believers and unbelievers alike seek to be happy, but each party is using different methods. However, only believers can achieve genuine happiness, and all forms of happiness attained through other than belief in Allah the Almighty are mere illusions. ... An Important Key Do not be preoccupied with the future because the future is in the world of the Unseen; do not let it bother you until it comes For More Keys: http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1203758661153&pagename=Z one-English-Living_Shariah%2FLSELayout

One important aspect to keep in mind is that this life is only one phase of our existence Life does not end when we pass away, we will one day meet our Creator, and by His Mercy believers will live an eternal happy life With that belief, all hardships that take place in this world, which may lead some people to be unhappy, disappear with patience and hope Tomorrow will be a better day In-Shaa-Allah

Faith Erosion Behind UK Misery: MPs
Despite growing wealth, Britons are increasingly unhappy because of a profound loss of faith and spiritual bankruptcy in the society, a group of Christian MPs warned in a report. "I think many policymakers sense these things, but don’t know what to do about it," Gary Streeter, a Conservative MP and a member of the five-member working group of Christian lawmakers, told the Times on Monday, May 12. The cross-party group, set up to look at how Christianity can contribute to the public debate, warns in the report that Britain is wallowing in misery despite increasing wealth. "Given all the advances of recent years, we seek to understand why a sense of human wellbeing – happiness if you like – is not more widespread," it reads. "It seemed to us that our national sense of wellbeing is at a low ebb; people are wanting something more out of life." The cites a large number of self-help books on happiness in the bookshops, and a research which claims people are no happier than 50 years ago. The MPs concluded that the lack of key religious values is the primary cause of this widespread unhappiness. People have sacrificed values, relationships and a sense of well-being in pursuit of economic growth. http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1209357503140&pagename=Z one-English-News/NWELayout

Inner Peace and Happiness
"Inner peace is the source of all peace. When a person is at harmony with himself, he is able to live in harmony with others." "We must be at peace with what Allah decrees for us, though we should seek by way of Allah’s decree to avoid the harm of Allah’s decree. It is as `Umar had said when he avoided entering a plague-stricken region: “We flee from Allah’s decree towards Allah’s decree.” A believer is resigned to Allah’s decree and accepts it fully, so much so that he does not want to hasten what has been delayed nor defer what has been hastened on." "Being fair and just is also an important factor in attaining inner peace. This requires us to do away with selfishness, vain desires, and avarice." http://www.islamtoday.com/showme2004.cfm?cat_id=30&sub_cat_id=730
