Ideological Basis and Its Impact on Economic Activities The ideological basis in Islam could be summarized into six basic principles: The cornerstone is that everything has to start from the belief in Allah or God as the Creator, Lord, and Sovereign of the universe. This implies willingness to submit to God’s will, to accept His guidance, and to have complete and unqualified servitude to Him. The second basic principle is that Islam as a religion is a complete way of life, A third principle is that God created human beings on earth as His trustees, which means that everyone is created to fulfill a certain responsibility on this earth. The fourth principle is that God, in order to help humankind to fulfill the responsibility of trusteeship, has made everything in this universe subservient to them. The fifth principle is the principle of accountability in the Hereafter. God has given human beings trusteeship and resources. This means that every single person will be questioned on the Day of Judgment, as to how he or she behaved enjoying his or her earthly life, which includes, of course, our economic behavior. The sixth principle is that the variation in wealth among people in itself does not give a person either inferiority or superiority An Introduction to Religion and Economics

Courtesy Applies to All People
In Islam, courtesy of the word is not only prescribed to Muslims with regards to other Muslims. It applies for all people, as the Qur’an points out:
Therefore, Muslims should be courteous in their speech towards all people of all religions or philosophies http://www.islamonline.net/english/introducingislam/Individual/article13.shtml

The Faith of All Prophets
Do Muslims consider other prophets before Muhammad as bona fide prophets? Are their followers real Muslims? How does Islam regard other faiths? Why do Muslims consider Islam as the culmination or the completion of other religions before it? To know the answer to these questions and more, listen to Dr. Jamal Badawi's five minute talk http://www.readingislam.com/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1201958032339&pagename=Z one-English-Discover_Islam%2FDIELayout

Purity of Intentions
if the intention is not sincerely to please God, then the reward for charity could be washed away just like rain washes away soil off a smooth rock, thus stopping any chance of plantation on it ... Good and Evil Intentions Sometimes people may have a sincere intention to do good, but due to uncontrollable or unexpected circumstances, they may not be able to fulfill this act. According to Islam, although this action was not actually done, they are still rewarded for it due to their sincere intention. http://www.readingislam.com/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1154701741809&pagename=Z one-English-Discover_Islam%2FDIELayout

Modesty and Dignity in Islam
Humbleness can be divided into two basic categories. The first kind is humbleness before God, which implies faith in Him and total submission to His will and commands without feeling haughty. The second category is humbleness with people, usually defined in dictionaries as the quality of being humble or modest and lacking pride, boastfulness or excessive self-assertiveness. These definitions also reflect Islam's view of humbleness ... This attitude of over-praising one's self is the cause of many of the malaise in today's civilization. People make a lot of effort to appear different from what they really are, while they could spend much less effort just being themselves. In order to solve this problem, people must try to be humble and have a sense of simplicity in their attitudes and their relationships with others. Concerning humbleness, Prophet Muhammad said, "Allah revealed to me that we should be humble among ourselves and none should show pride upon the others" (Muslim). Also Prophet Muhammad indicated that being humble is a way of gaining God's pleasure; he said, "And the one who shows humility, God elevates him in the estimation (of the people) and elevates his degrees in the hereafter" (Muslim) http://www.readingislam.com/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1180421168806&pagename=Z one-English-Discover_Islam%2FDIELayout
