Parents' Rights in Islam

It is a basic rule in Islam that all parents, whether they are Muslim or not, are entitled to good and kind treatment from their offspring.



At the time of the Prophet, many of those who embraced Islam had difficulties with their parents, but Prophet Muhammad taught them to be kind to their parents and to obey them except if they demanded actions that were contrary to God's laws.

Infallibility of Prophets

There are similarities between the concept of prophethood in Islam and the concept of prophethood in Judaic and Christian traditions, like the general notion of God sending prophets or messengers to guide humanity, the concept of revelation and the whole notion of God inspiring messengers with the truth.

However, the main difference lies in what is called in Islam the ismah or the infallibility of prophets.

Property Rights in Islam
Ultimate Ownership vs. Trusteeship

Numerous verses in the Qur'an give a clear indication that everything is owned by Allah (God) and that property in the absolute sense belongs to Him, and to Him alone.

For example, one verse says what means: [To Allah belongs the domain of heavens and earth and anything in-between] (Al-Ma’idah 5:120). Another verse refers to Allah as [the owner of the entire universe] (Aal-`Imran 3:26).

However, the right of ownership being God’s alone does not mean that we as human beings do not also have the right to own property, it simply puts this individual right of ownership within a broader context. Ownership is basically our responsibility as trustees of God on earth.

Modesty and Dignity in Islam

Humbleness can be divided into two basic categories. The first kind is humbleness before God, which implies faith in Him and total submission to His will and commands without feeling haughty.

The second category is humbleness with people, usually defined in dictionaries as the quality of being humble or modest and lacking pride, boastfulness or excessive self-assertiveness. These definitions also reflect Islam's view of humbleness.
