What is Hadith?
This is a body of literature that comprises the sayings, teachings, behaviour etc. of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims try to emulate the character of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in their daily lives and use the hadith as a key source to that end. The Qur'an together with hadith constitute the two most authoritative sources for moral, ethical and spiritual guidance for Muslims. ---------------------------------------------------- The Messenger of God, upon whom be peace, said:"The parent is the central door of The Garden (al-Jannah), you may look after it or you may leave it."The above Hadith was related in Tirmidhi (Hadith No. 1900), and Ibn Majah (Hadith No. 3663). In another Hadith which has several narrations one of which says: "A man asked the Prophet, upon him be peace, who are the people most entitled to good companionship from me? The Prophet said: 'Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest relatives and then the next nearest." (See Riyad al-Salihin, p. 194). The Messenger of God, upon whom be peace, said:
"Be careful of suspicion*, for it is the most mistaken of all speech. Do not spy on others, compete** among yourselves, envy one another, or despise one another. Rather, be servants of God and brothers" *The intended meaning of "Suspicion" is believing something which is guesswork and then speaking about it to others. **There is nothing wrong with healthy competition, particularly in doing good deeds. This hadith refers to competition that destroys team play and equality, etc. The above Hadith was related by Sahih Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi |

The Messenger of God, upon whom be peace, said:"A strong person is not the person who throws his adversaries to the ground. A strong person is the person who contains himself when he is angry."
It was related in Malik's Muwatta, Book 47, Number 47.3.12. Sahih al Bukhari (8:135) and Sahih Muslim (#6313) |

A beautiful Hadith by the prophet, peace be upon him, which reminds us to take one day at a time, not to worry too much about the future and to be grateful for the blessings we have:
The Prophet (peace be upon him said): "Whoever spends his night safely in his home, with a healthy body and enough provision for his day, it is as if he has gained the world in its entirety." Having safety, good health and sufficient provision for the day makes a believer concentrate on the aspects of faith and good deeds which bring happiness and tranquility to the soul.

On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may God be pleased with him) from the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is that among the sayings he relates from his Lord (may He be glorified) is that He said:
'O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except for those I have guided, so seek guidance of Me and I shall guide you. O My servants, all of you are hungry except for those I have fed, so seek food of Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except for those I have clothed, so seek clothing of Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefiting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more than a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I reckon up for you and then recompense you for, so let him who finds good praise Allah and let him who finds other than that blame no one but himself.' The above Qudusi Hadith was related by Muslim (also by at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah). |

That's a lovely Hadith, Peace. Each time I read it or listen to it, it's as if God is talking to us directly.
And just to point out to non-Muslims that it's a Hadith Qudsi where the words are those of God, not of prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, like is the case in other Prophetic Hadiths. All the best.

The Messenger of God, upon whom be peace, said:
If God has loved a servant [of His] He calls Gabriel (on whom be peace) and says: I love So-and-so, therefore love him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said: So Gabriel loves him. Then he (Gabriel) calls out in heaven, saying: God loves So-and-so, therefore love him. And the inhabitants of heaven love him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said: Then acceptance is established for him on earth. And if God has abhorred a servant [of His], He calls Gabriel and says: I abhor So-and-so, therefore abhor him. So Gabriel abhors him. Then Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven: God abhors So-and-so, therefore abhor him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said: So they abhor him, and abhorrence is established for him on earth. It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, Malik, and at-Tirmidhi). |
