Hello all!
A question for my Islamic friends: In trying to read a few posts here and educate myself about Islam (I am a Christian, a member of the Roman Catholic Church), I read a post about the 5 pillars of Islam. One has to deal with God and Muhammed being his messenger.... What about those who do not know Muhammed or never in their life learn about Islam. I guess my question would be what happens to those people who, without knowing of Islam but acting under the inspiration of grace, seek God sincerely and strive to fulfill his will.... are they saved? (If that is even the correct term...??? ) Thanks for the help. Peace be with you, Scott |

In Islam those who never have heard a preaching of Islam or never heard what Islam is about are saved. In Islam, God forgives those people.

Why would God forgive those people?

This is a question I dont know the answer to. I suggest asking a scholar of Islam about this issue.

God would forgive those people because God knows that these people haven't been exposed to the message. I did ask someone this question along time ago and I remember him telling me that those people are forgiven because they haven't been exposed to the message. They are judged by their sins and good deeds.

As long as people try to live their lives the best they can by doing good to themselves and to others. Also these people should try and stay away from doing bad things and if they do happen to do bad things, as long as they realize what they have done is wrong and try to not do it again, I believe that these people will be forgiven by God and have his grace.

Thanks for your opinion salam........ but I am still unsure of what Islam teaches...... is your opinion based on the Koran or Muslim teaching, or just a guess?
Thanks for the help, Scott |

I would have to say my oppion is based off of basic Muslim teaching. Basically as long as you believe there is a God and try to live your life for God the best that you know how, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Although it's not up to me to make this decision, it's all up to God to decide of course, but keep in mind that in Islam we believe that God is the most just, in fact it's one of His many names/titles. There will be Muslims that get into heaven and some that go to hell, and there will be people of other faiths that get into heaven and some that go to hell. Basically you don't have to be a Muslim to be saved with God's grace or to get into heaven.
