I hope no one thinks this is stupid or disrespectful, but I have asked a few other Muslims and they didn't seem to know the answer. I have no stake in the answer, it is just curiosity.
If a man from a country that permits multiple marriages emigrates to the US, how are those marriages treated under US law? I worked with a man from Morocco whose father had two wives. I asked what would happen if his father, mother and as he referred to her "the other wife", came to the US, what would happen. He did not know because he only had one wife, and his father did not emigrate.

A Muslim emigrating to a new country should respect the law of that country
If it is against the law to have 2 wives in the US, then this should be respected One wife in the vast majority of cases is enough Who wants "double trouble" anyway? ![]() |
