There may come a day when the thought of being bound by gravity becomes repulsive.

It's possible, but not inevitable.

We can all do a little bit to help us survive by working on ourselves. But if we fail, then I suppose we will have "deserved" it. In any case, none of us are getting out of here alive, anyway. So I don't see that it's such a big issue whether we go out collectively, or one at a time.

"I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud" Rev:10

Like the big ship in 'Independence Day' movie.

"Well I dreamed I saw the silver space ships flying In the yellow haze of the sun
There were children crying and colors flying All around the chosen ones
All in a dream, all in a dream The loading had begun
They were flying Mother Nature's silver seed to a new home in the sun"

Neil Young- After the Gold Rush

We protect ourselves by protecting ourselves. If we look for ways to shoot down destructive missiles and stall engineered epidemics, we won't find ourselves in that fix, will we? Besides, I think that, in spite of continuing tensions, world leaders are gradually getting the hint that we've only got one planet. I'm actually impressed with how much progress has been made.
