Jimmy Carter on oppression of Palestinians (minority, choice, America, Israel)

i hate to admit it, but i listened to carter on NPR talk about this the other day...and he is saying some of the same things i have been saying for so long---Isreal isnt as innocent as we all think, more palestinians have been killed without mercy than isreali's, and the US should really just stop backing the jewish state without good reason---he made alot of sense and said alot of things that the media is afraid to say

Israel pulled out of the Gaza and instead of calm on that front they were thanked w/ a barage of Kassam rockets by the future ruling part of the PA, Hamas.

The thing is, I don't care. The occupation is wrong, and it has to end. End of story. You can justify it all you like, and you have terrorism justified by others just the same.

So? I don't think the occupation will end if terrorism does, I think it will probably get worse. Terrorism is still wrong and I still want it to stop - because it's wrong.

Your logic, to me, is like slowly stranging a woman because you believe she just might press charges if you let her go - and thinking that's perfectly fine.

ok...wow...i mean, damn

i can't even begin to disagree more. Terrorism ends and we can begin to negotiate real peace.
I think ending the "occupation" with things as they are is insane because i don't want to have to drag the body of a dead Israeli child out to prove an "I told you so"

or how about this
it's like taking an insane mass murdering necrophiliac, locking him in prison and then saying, "oh the prison is making him worse so the best thing to do is to release him back into the public and pretend like it'll be ok."

rob, discussing Gaza is not really important at this juncture because it has already been "liberated"

and only helps to prove my point that ending "occupation" will do nothing for peace, it will only give terrorists more room to attack and calls for demanding more land from Israel.
