If anything the Arabs are Proto-Semetic peoples who use semetic language. But that's about it.
That says Semitic is a term used to describe the associated cultures related to Semitic languages, of which Arabic is one. It also says people like Jews, Palestinians, and Syrians have similar Y-chromosome markers...?

I don't understand how it says Arabs are not Semitic, I find it says clearly they are?

Perhaps I'm going blind. Can you be so kind as to cut and paste the section that says this please...

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because you just stepped into the conversation and are unaware what the Crusades were about. See:

Semitic (from the Biblical name "Shem") was first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Assyrian, Akkadian, Hebrew, Maltese, Syriac, Tigrinya, etc. As language studies are interwoven with cultural studies, the term also came to describe the extended cultures and ethnicities, as well as the history of these varied peoples as associated by close geographic and linguistic distribution.

*****

Modern science, in contrast, identifies an ethnic group's common physical descent through genetic research, and analysis of the Semitic peoples suggests that they share a significant common ancestry. Though no significant common mitochondrial results have been yielded, Y-chromosomal links between Near-Eastern peoples like the Palestinians, Syrians and ethnic Jews have proved fruitful, despite differences contributed from other groups (see Y-chromosomal Aaron).

Perhaps what you are missing is the focus of "Semetic Languages" vs. being of "Shemetic" desendancy. It is using it in an exclusively scholarly/academic term.

And as the article I provided says,
True, Ishmael was a son of Abraham, indeed his first-born. But we Jews do not - like Arabs, Russians and loads of other nationalities - hold by patrilineal descendant. To be a Jew you have to have a Jewish mother.

And Ishmael did not. His mother (this is all in the Book of Genesis) was Hagar, an Egyptian (Egypt-Mitzrayim), and Mitzrayim was one of the four sons of Ham (along with Canan, Put and Cush)

I fail to see how that is in any way related to whether or not Arabs are a Semitic people? The common use of the word Semitic refers, as they say, to the ethnicities and cultures associated with Semitic people - this clearly includes Arabs.

A more specific, modern sense - involving genetic lineage - refers to Semitic people as a racial group, of which Arabs - at in Palestine and Syria and other Near Eastern countries - are a part.

What does Hagar or a biblical use of any term have to do with this?

So then Arabs are not Jews? I'm shocked.

Again, what does this have to do with Arabs being Semitic?
