Ted Koppel: Olbermann, O'Reilly and the death of real news
I'm surprised by the author's claim, since we've more readily accessible quantity & diversity of news sources than ever before. The article's title seems to be more calculated hyperbole than actual fact. If anything, it could be called "The Growth Of Entertorializing". There's big bux in presenting news with a spin designed to get the blood boiling, & it's always been that way here. Has it intensified? That would be a hard thing to measure. But one difference from historical agenda laden news is that exposure to it is greatly increased. Let's not bemoan the death of real news....let's just be careful & skeptical consumers of the news we see. Remember that everyone is trying to sell you something, especially the ones who say they aren't.

I wasn't aware real news was ever even born.

Not that I was aware of. I agree with you if anything, today is the golden age of information. Sure, there is a lot of disinformation and manipulation -- but there is way more legitimacy in the alternative sources.

I think I'm coming to conclusion that people really are just always ******, regardless the situation. If anything socially wonderful happens, I don't think it will have a singular cause. History within a decade is even enough to occupy a few men's lifetimes.

There was. Ratings plummeted and was consequently canceled cause it was just too boring.
