Baby with two faces worshipped as goddess - CNN.com
Hindus, do you believe this to be a genunine reincarnation of Durga, or are they mistaken about their daughter's medical condition?

Friend Father Heathen,
Firstly it needs to be understood that the concept of Hindusim is that it is not a religion but a way of life and as such all humans are Hindu whatevr maybe the religion they follow. Nest each being is a part of god be it two headed or one headed BUT since it is not normal for a human to be born with two heads then surely it has to be taken as a medical case. Love & rgds |

AS far as Im concerned as long as her condition doesnt cause her any medical problems let her be worshipped as a Goddess..Its better than being considered grotesque or some kind of freak and rejected like what would happen in many societies.Sounds like she will be well loved and respected.

In Hinduism, we are all manifestations of God, including that dear little baby. However, I do not think that she is an Avatar of Mother Durga. An avatar is a powerful manifestation of God brought here for a special purpose, eg. to restore righteousness. Perhaps the villagers want to believe that God has manifested among them. I am happy that the baby is being honoured instead of being treated as a freak. All babies are special.

Someone should try to talk the parents into at least getting the CT scan. I realize that they don't know or understand what that is, but it should be done. Just the fact that all four eyes are functioning means that things are "wired" differently in the brain and it would be best to make sure that there are no problems.
It's nice that she's not being treated as a "freak", but this does show a lot about differences in locations and faiths. Had she been born in Australia, the U.S., the U.K. or many other places she would not have adorers come to praise her, she would have parents with her at the hospital to have every test run to see if she was ok and what all the risks and other things they would have to deal with would be. Shoot, in some places of the world she might even be seen as an abomination and might have been killed. Whether this child grows up to do great things and perform great feats will be an interesting thing to see though. Who knows? ![]() |

Wowza... I wonder how that will go when she gets older... If, in fact, she lives through whatever it is that has caused her to have 2 faces...
