What about the other religions in India, wouldn't you feel it's would be great if they united too, then all religions in India would live in peace if they wished goodness and good will for each other?

You said that: it would equally stupid to say that Muslims have not committed the majority of the atrocities.
I believe this issue can be debated but this is not the right place for it, because each party claim that the *others* are responsible for the majority of the attacks.

Yes, peace with other religions would be great, but I don't see it as a viable solution. Hindus cannot forget 450 years of Islamic domination. It's not just me. Hinduism is a very uniquely tolerant religion - we accept everyone so long as they accept us. You will never find such acceptance in any other religions with the exception of perhaps the Baha'i.

A "national religion" to which everyone was expected to adhere would surely be a mistake in a country as diverse as India. As Voltaire said (paraphrasing): Where there is one religion there is tyranny. Where there are two religions there is civil war. Only with a multitude of religions is there peace.

It's also surprising to me that you can quote Gandhi and yet hold such a deep grudge. I'll take my leave of this thread, which started out on such a positive note of mutual understanding, and let you guys have at it.

a great example: Do you see Buddhists go on rampage and killing Muslims when the Big Buddha Statues were destroyed by the Taliban Muslims in Afghanistan? |
