The Hanuman found in the Himalayas- real or fake?

What do you guys know about the incident in 1999 when that group of people thought they saw Hanuman?



This is the story:

"On 18th, Tuesday, 1999 I received from Sister Bhuvana the same picture , in response to my posting on the net about this Hanuman. She had got this from some body else. I reproduce below what she heard.
"This is the latest thing going on here. A group of people went to Manas-sarovar for a piligrimage trip. One of the person there is a Upasaka of Hanuman. He was exploring some caves and accidentally bounced upon a being looking like Lord Hanuman. All of them had cameras and this person happend to click the camera and died there for reasons not known. The other persons fished him out and the camera and here is the picture the camera showed. I do not know how much it is true but many people are believing it. It is a fact that Hanuman does exist in flesh and blood because he is a Chiranjeevi".



This is what now I have got from a person who says it is one of the few originals of the Hanuman photos. The government of India every year during the summer "before the onslaught of monsoon", gives permissions after medical check up, to selected individuals and send them in groups to Manasarovar. Such groups necessarily will consist of different nationalities, and different people from different regions of India. This photograph appears to have been taken by a person during the summer of 1998. It is said that He saw a light inside a cave and he clicked the light and he died (This part every one is confirming). Later the friends developed the roll from the camera and got this print!"

lawlz...This is so cliche and cheesy. What urban legend doesn't start off like this? And the picture is clearly an illustration. x10

Lol, true. And I agree that the pic is an illustration. So why are people believing this? Is there more info about to further explain any of this?

People believe it because they want it to be true. It makes them happy to think that they are aware of some special knowledge that few others know.

apart from that it also once again helps them reinforce in a belief that there is an external agency responsible for their fate and they can by false belief continue to do good or bad karma and they cannot be held responsible for it.

it is the basic human mind of shifting the blame onto others.

Some people believe this photo is true because their minds want them to believe it. By the same token, some people do not believe the photo is true because their minds do not want them to believe it.

What my mind tells me to believe is the word of Valmiki Rishi and Veda Vyasji- I do believe that Lord Hanuman is Chiranjeevi and is present anywhere Lord Rama's devotion is present. Regarding the photo, I have no problem in bowing to the photo as that of Hanumanji.

It depends on what the individual's mind would like to *believe*!
Personally am neutral to facts to which have no personal experience as mind matters are best left alone.
