Will you know? Perhaps. Perhaps not. To be perfectly honest, I can't answer that for you, because I've never tried. Maybe you won't realise until afterwards. Maybe you'll know as you head into it. Just trust that you will be safe, trust that whatever power you hold dear - yourself, God, the universe - will keep you safe and allow you to go along with whatever you do feel, to go along with whatever you come across. Maybe this is one of those cases where "You'll know when the time comes". I'm sorry, I really cannot be much more help than that . This is a fantastic and brand new adventure, and one I believe to be well worth exploring. Map out those uncharted waters for yourself, and you'll probably have a story to tell afterwards

Will I know if I'm in trance?

I've tried a few hypnosis videos I found with google, and none of them work. Hearing a guy tell me to relax doesn't make me relax even when I want it to, and no matter how hard I try, I can't "see" something that's not there (especially since my eyes are cloesd). For example, one video told me to imagine myself in a hot air balloon, and feel myself rising higher, feel the basket under my feet and feel the wind, see the sky, etc. Am I seriously expected to "pretend" these things? I CAN'T make things feel real just by thinking about them, that's what trance is for.

Will I still feel my physical body during trance, or will my mind be separated from my body, like in a dream?

How do I focus on the spinning spiral or the hypnotists voice and "let go" of my body at the same time?

Why do people keep putting fake crap on the internet (seriously, I've seen some videos that were really bad)?

How do I know which self-hypnosis guide to follow when most of them say something different?

How do I tense and relax muscles that I can't control or move, like my lower arm, calf, and ankles?

Wish these guides would be more clear .

This seems like a good way to start out. I'll have a crack at it tomorrow (if I do it now I'll fall to sleep).

I had an extremely vivid lucid dream a short while back. It's amazing the amount of detail one's mind is able to produce. I was walking through a house and just became aware I was dreaming. At that point I could control the world around me while feeling really peaceful.

With any luck, self-hypnosis might allow the same thing at will.
