Just wondering if anyone else knows what I'm talking about....
You know usually when you breathe it's like...regular or shallow breaths? I mean, you can feel the difference between a "regular" breath and a deep breath. (right?) Sometimes I can't get to sleep or feel better unless I can get that deep breath. And usually when I try for it all I get is a shallow breath that is trying to breathe deep. Is there anything you can do to get that satisfying deep breath without waiting for it?

Sounds like you might need a better or more reliable way to relax (without resorting to alcohol of course
)Try lying in bed listening to some super relaxing music. The sound of waves or other naturalistic music might help. Or any music that just makes you feel good inside. Also, I know everybody says this but it's sooooo true. Regular, daily exercise helps you sleep much, much better.

It's not really my sleeping, though, it's just breathing. I could quit smoking...... ![]()

![]() Also, try to practice long, slow breathing whenever you can. Make it normal to take long slow breaths - I find it's rather calming ^_^

And now whenever I see this thread, it's like a reminder; Breathe long and slow! ^_^
I'm sure my natural breathing rhythm has slowed a fair bit.

I'm not sure what you mean, Stacey, but sometimes I feel like I need to breathe a bigger breath at just random times when I'm not walking or anything. You probably should try to quit smoking though, because it's bad for your lungs and stuff...

Have you tried concentrating on breathing from your diaphram more? Sit comfortably, leaning slightly back breathe in slowly through your nose a couple times and then take one long, slow, deep breath, concentrating on expanding your diaphram, hold it for a couple seconds, and let it slowly out through pursed lips. Practicing deep breathing techniques frequently can eventually retrain yourself to breath better on a regular basis. ...Quitting smoking would probably help wonders as well

Friend Stacey bo bacey,
Last time you spoke about *staring the mirror* and now you are talking about *DEEP BREATHS.* It appears you are were born in the east in some past life. However; LIFE itself is to do with *BREATHING*. Along with the AIR that we breath, there is what eastern religions call *PRANA* or life force that goes into our body along with AIR this is same as *wu chi* [chinese]. Buddha's meditation *ANAPANASATI* is based on *BREATH AWARENESS*. *Hath Yoga* [India] and *Tai Chi* [China] are all based on *IN* and *OUT* breath. Each cell in our body requires *OXYGEN* to survive like any living organism and only when we BREATH to full capacity does this oxygen is carried out to all the cells of the body through our blood. experts say that when the cells do not receive this life force they do not regenerate and we become ill and the cell parts become cancerous. Hath Yoga experts say that by proper breathing we can live a very very long and healthy life [upto 400 years approx]. If one can be aware of his own breathing from end to end such a person becomes enlightened. Love & rgds |
