What do you think?
I'm also making a men's thread 1) Is a woman ever allowed to blame what she says and does fully on PMS? 2) Is it allowed some of the time? 3) Are there certaint things that are allowed and not others? 4) Why do we feel when we are PMS that everyone should drop what they are doing and care about us? 5) I hate PMS. ![]() |

1) and 2) Can't say that anyone can "blame" PMS completely for behavior and choice of verbage, but one can certainly attribute the hormonal influence on moods. That's why it's very important for a woman to inform others that she is PMSing, and then retreat to the nearest Costco, buy a large bag of Hershey's chocolate kisses, and then pig out in the car while crying and listening to Air Supply. 3) To me, the one thing that is allowed during PMS is for us to be able to do away with taking care of others and to take care of our own bodies. This eases nearly 95% of all PMS mishaps. The other 5% I claim temporary insanity. 4) IMHO, it's because the hormonal surges and ups and downs completely overwhelm us and our moods. There are times when we feel completely out of control, and that can be scary. We rally around a sick family member, so it seems obvious that we'd like a family to rally around us. There is nothing wrong with this. 5) PMS sucks. ![]() The best thing to do is to call a girlfriend or your mom or whatever woman you have a good relationship with, and tell her you need to meet her for some PMS medicine. Another woman will nearly always give you a shoulder to cry on, especially when you tell her that you're PMSing. Peace, Mystic |

I say absolutely not. The word "fully" was the catch phrase for me. If you find that PMS drives you to do things you wouldn't normally do, I think it's ok to say, "I'm sorry....I must be PMSing." Quote:

1) Is a woman ever allowed to blame what she says and does fully on PMS?
No, not fully. PMS certainly causes hormones and emotions to run wilder than normal, but responsibility still rests on the individual. 2) Is it allowed some of the time? My husband and I have a policy to always inform each other if we are particularly stressed or in a bad mood. We also let the other know if they are acting out of sorts so it can be dealt with appropriately. Sometimes we'll just warn each other to stay away while cooling off, sometimes venting and massages are in order. I've found talking about being stressed and hormonal early on keep unnecessary conflicts to a minimum. 3) Are there certaint things that are allowed and not others? Understandable reactions for myself include a shorter fuse, venting and crying easily. I still apologize if I realize I'm letting my hormones do the talking. Absolutely unacceptible behavior would include things like abuse and other acts of violence regardless of whether it is physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and so on. 4) Why do we feel when we are PMS that everyone should drop what they are doing and care about us? I'm more emotionally fragile and thus I need more reassurance. 5) I hate PMS. ![]() Amen!* Quote:

Yeah it is. I haven't yet (had a visit from Tom), but I'm certainly feeling like I'm going to. |

From the perspective of an "older woman":
The one and only negative thing about menopause is that you can no longer use this an excuse. ![]()
