The Food catagory always gets me.
I really want my own garden, hopefully this year I'll have one.

Total footprint, 10, average 25. We barely buy any processed food any more and so much food is grown around here. I would also love a garden to help shrink my footprint even more.
I rarely ride in the car, and even then I'm never alone. We get great gas mileage. Most anything I need is within walking distance. I can't wait for the price of hybrids to drop even more so our next vehicle can get better mileage. The weather is mild, so we don't need much in the way of heating and the only things using power continuously are our computers and the refrigerator. We have lots of windows, so we only need lighting at night. Hmm... I do think the goods/services section needs expansion since 'much less' produces a result of three acres. When we move, I expect the shelter catagory to rise for us (because of more extreme weather) and the food catagory to drop (because we will have the opportunity to grow our own and the food I don't feel like growing already grows locally). |

1.7 global hectare things, is that footprint size? The average for my country is 5.3 anyway, which seems high...
If everyone lived like me we would need 1 earth! Wow!

25 acres for me, one more than average. When I was a missionary in Peru it was 1.2 hectares, which is exactly the average for Peru. Whaddayaknow...

That's really interesting... I put in the same answers for the UK instead of the US and ended up with less than half the footprint. I would love to know what causes such a large difference.

Actually, it did make me think about the negative environmental consequences of resident caps and restrictions on apartments and homes. |
