What do you think of the idea of starting a discussion group for the analysis and interpretation of gnostic texts? It wouldn't be a "traditional" sort of "what's the proper way to understand this" approach, but more of an opportunity for people to share what certain passages from gnostic texts mean them, what some famous gnostics and scholars have said or written about the meaning and create a resource of some of the different ideas individuals associate with gnostic literature.
This could include, of course, some or all of the Nag Hamadi texts as well as material from the Canonical New Testament like certain of the Pauline Epistles or the Gospel of Mark. We could discuss evidence for and against authorship and interpolations and whatever else comes to mind. I imagine this as a long-term project, so while it seems enormous in scope, it would be taken just a small piece at a time - just a few key passages each week. If there is interest, I would like to hear ideas about the logistics of the project. My initial thinking is that we could have a list of participants who each take turns selecting a passage and making the first entry on it on say each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sort of a rotating "pastor" like the Quakers. What do you think? the doppleganger

I'd like to join in too, although I'll probably be more of a fly on the wall most of the time. Good idea.

We've been doing this over at the Palm Tree Garden with great results, starting with the Gospel of Philip. I'm too new to post direct links, but if you're interested you can find it at:
www palmtreegarden org / forum / viewforum.php?id=25 I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you could do with it over here.
